pregnancy and edema-- more info

I thought I might get called out on that one! Here is some more information:

my friend is pregnant with twins (26 wks) and has lately been experiencing some

pretty significant (pitting) edema. It mostly affects her hands and feet,

including the bottoms of her feet. She runs warm, but aside from that symptom,

my feeling is that it is largely yin-type edema. Her pulse is slippery and

(according to Japanese pulse dx) weak in the kidney, spleen, and lung positions.

She has no related urinary or digestive symptoms, aside from rare bouts of

diarrhea. I worked on her last night and she seemed to get some relief

immediately (points LI-6, LI-10, CV-17, ST-28 with light, indirect moxa only,

ST-36, SP-9, GB-43, K-3, K-7, SP-6 with light, indirect moxa only, BL-13, BL-20

and K-10), but any other help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Lisa and all

Even she has a rare bouts of diarrhoea, it's still indicate the weakness of the

spleen. IMO it may relate to spleen-yang deficiency. my wife has a similar

problem when she was pregnant with oedema. we try Li Yu Tang (Carp Decoction) as

dietary supplement. it seem help her alot.
