Sojourn

It was well when he was there in Cheen.

He would write of the winds and the meandering streams, how the children

played in the fields, and the birds in the streams, as these made their way

to the larger, wilder river, by the great Ghost Gorge, a day's journey

hence.

He would write of the ill winds which had struck people, and how the healers

stood and gave succor to the many, the poor of the sod, who had nowhere

else to go, and possesed naught.

He spoke to us by the night winds, and his words papered before us

in the Magic Pane, and we listened, and thought, and discussed, and became

the wiser.

Now he will leave those valleys and the ways, and come to his own home,

where his people shall greet him and give him warm broth and hold him

dear and embrace him much.

Which is well and all, except now the People of Cheen will see his place

empty, and feel lowly.

Wherever he goes, he leaves his mark. Then it was in Etrusca, in

the Middle Times in Greece, now here with us.

They call him Attilio.
