Guest guest
Hello ALL, My name is Ming H. Lee. I have been a licensed acupuncturist in the state of California since 2002. My academic background include a B.S. in biology from U.C. Riverside, a M.P.H. from Loma Linda University School of Public Health, and of course a M.S. from South Baylo University School of Oriental Medicine. I have always known of the existence of TCM, but I did not start to realize the benefit of TCM until my second year in college during which I had a near death experience resulting from my own carelessness in not seeking treatment for pneumonia which I did not realize I had (I was very very into my study at the time.). Fortunately, my stupidity introduced me to this very effective form of healing which gradually brought me back to health through acupunture, moxibustion, cupping, guasha, herbal medicine, tuina, and qigong. My main interest in TCM is how to maximize treatment effect of acupuncture and qigong, and how acupuncture and qigong can benefit from scientific research. I have started a collection of TCM journals from mainland China, and after reading the journal articles I believe that TCM practice and efficacy can really benefit from more research. In the future, I hope that I will be able to participate in TCM research in the U.S. I would like to approach TCM research through a public health and/or clinical trials approach. I am currently working in Los Angeles County Department of Health Services as an epidemiology analyst to brush up on my research skills. In the future, I hope that I can apply my experiences to TCM, so that the skills and experiences that I've gained will help to improve the public's perceptions of TCM, increase visibility of TCM in more positive light as the profession truly deserves, and to propell TCM into the main stream status in the U.S. the way allopathic and osteopathic medicine are enjoying now. My main reasons for joining this group is to exchange ideas on TCM topics, and I also want to get a feel for the research environment for TCM here in the U.S., because I have no idea what research in TCM is like in the U.S. I think this group could be good starting point. I look forward to exchange ideas and experiences with everyone, and I hope more people will join. I have already seen some very good discussions here, and I believe that this is the right place to be. We have much to learn from each other. Good day To ALL each and everyday.
