Hi Atilio, In Spain in January a law was passed to say that only MDs licenced in

mdicine and surgery (the official title here) can diagnose, prognose and treat

therapeutically. All health centres where alternative therapies are practised

will be made to have an MD fronting the centre and will have a visual sign

outside - probably a blue and green cross to differentiate them from the

Parasanitary centres. Therefore all Parasanitary centres will still not be

regulated under the official health laws, but will not be allowed to diagnose,

prognose or treat therapeutically. Therefore we are not allowed to use herbs of

any description, either European or Chinese. Neither are we allowed to sell

herbs or prescribe - but this law is from 1989. The only way I can sell herbs

is by setting up a health food store, but in a separate office from where I

practice my therapies (not allowed to treat!!) and if I set up a health food

shop in the same name as I practice, I have been warned that the tax man /

health ministry will become suspicious and open an investigation.

This is the situation in Spain. I also know that Chiropractors in Italy are

having a very hard time, and that the MDs want to stop them from working full

stop. So at the moment, I can only use Acupuncture and Tui-Na, which greatly

reduces the treatment in many cases as you know, the only way around it is to

get the herbs sent directly to the patient´s home, which I can do through a

company in the Uk, but this means that prices go up, and I don´t like the idea

of making the patients by two of everything in case it´s not want they need, or

they need to change, etc etc. Hope this enlightens you lot in America, as this

is where you are going if you don´t take heed.

Best wishes, happy weekend

Re: More on FDA Ban

Hi all,

Has anyone got any idea what the hell is going on in Europe

regarding herb bans? Is anyone doing anything about it?
