Guest guest
It's good to know Jim Skoien is teaching... although I never met him, I know from my colleagues that he was very influential in the time he was in Southern California and I imagine as well in the Northwest USA where I last heard of his whereabouts. doug , " " <@e...> wrote: > Hi All, > > I'm just back after a refresher course on TCM given by Jim Skoien. > > Here is a list of " Envoy Herbs " , said to direct a formula to specific > areas. Guest guest
Phil- Some of these I do not understand and was wondering if you could explain a little further: > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >ENVOY HERBS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >Envoy~arm | Weilingxian Any reason why sang zhi or gui zhi were not included? >Envoy~Downbear Qi | Huainiuxi There seems to be some controversy in this case as to which niu xi downbears. For instance, chuan niu xi is used in Tian ma gou teng yin to move blood downward (at least according to Bensky & Barolet). >Envoy~LU/upper airway | Jiegeng In Guohui Liu's Warm Disease book, he makes a nice distinction using the formula Sang ju yin showing that bo he-nose, jie geng-throat, and sang ye-chest. -Steve -- Stephen Bonzak <smb021169
Guest guest
Hi Phil, Thanks for the list. I had a teacher who also used gui zhi for fingers (along w/ sang zhi and I think some other twiggy things), and I think her also mentioned fang feng for jaw issues. I had a patient recently with a sort of jaw muscle spasm that was stress induced. One of my respected mentors suggested Xiao Yao San for the Qi stagnation with Ge Gen to guide it to the Stomach channel in the face. Patient reported excellent results. -- Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. -Adlai Stevenson
Guest guest
Hi Al, That makes sense even if you just think about as mechanical relationship of shoulder and jaw tension. I'll give it a shot with my next tight shoulder TMJ type. Guest guest
In the beijing dermatology department they would use three grams of Du Zhong to guide to the lower back, for a rash, for example. doug , Al Stone <alstone@b...> wrote: > > On Mar 31, 2004, at 6:22 PM, Par Scott wrote: > > > Hi Phil, > > > > Thanks for the list. > > > > I had a teacher who also used gui zhi for fingers (along w/ sang zhi > > and I > > think some other twiggy things), and I think her also mentioned fang > > feng > > for jaw issues. > > I had a patient recently with a sort of jaw muscle spasm that was > stress induced.
