Guest guest
Would you care to try K 1 Gushing Spring? You don't have to needle it, simply work with pressure, guiding the qi to the back or even upwards into the upper part of middle warmer, or the lower part of upper warmer. This presumes that there are no contraindications for using this point. Sit on bed safely in center, you might fall asleep during process. Cross R leg over L knee so R sole is handy. Find K 1, using L thumb, which carries a + charge [Yoshio Manaka; Chasing the Dragon's Tail]. The point will seem indurated, or cold, or heated, or rough, or sunken etc. Press thumb into it gently, till you feel qi moving; which could be numbness or an allied sensation, even heat, up the leg and into the warmers. Stay on it for 5 minutes, and change to L leg following same procedure. Rationale: You are sleepless because the darned yang is still running about in your head. K 1 tends to draw it down, leaving yin to replace it. Yang in head could be from i. rising LV yang, LV Fire or LV Wind ii. HT and K at odds iii. disorders of throat. 1. 1. The point is most marvelously described in Manual of Acupuncture by Peter Deadman et al; see p. 336, which has inspired most of this post. Dr. Holmes Keikobad MB BS DPH Ret. I found that K1 is very useful for those who get too spaced out by treatments (whether they be acupuncture, massage, any other energy work). It really does ground you and bring you back to your centre. - Jag Student of TCM Middlesex University London
