Guest guest
Dear Group- I am really happy to be part of this group! The welcoming messages and the site information from Attilio promise a wonderful combination of warmth and informational wealth. I'm an acupuncturist and an optometrist by license (FL AP 466; FL OPC 1819). I spend a lot of both professional and thinking time in optometry, developmental vision, nutrition, aromatherapy and cognitive and muscle refex based energetics, plus thought field therapies - unfortunately to the detriment of my traditional acupuncture/TCM skills. I often explain to clients that acupuncture is extremely powerful and that the best practitioners not only practicebut live and breathe it - and since I am actively involved with a number of other modalities I may want to refer them to an acupuncturist more skilled in traditional techniques and herbology when indicated. But, whether I'm treating or referring, I'm sure the communications and information from this group will help me to better do either. I'm likely to post little unless I feel I have something useful to others to share. Gratefully, Walter Chao, OD, AP Pembroke Pines, FL
Guest guest
Welcome Walter: I congratulate you on dedicating your time and energy achieving your AP license. I want to compare that effort to those who take shortcut classes and " do " acupuncture. This is directed at Joe and others who do their 100 or 150 hours of classes. This is not a turf war statement, just what is. I have learned to adjust necks and backs, but I do not use the techniques as I have not done the course work. What I would like to see is all those from other medical type professions discount the anatomy, physiology, etc., that they have obviously studied, and put in the clinical and practical hours that APs have to put in. This is the minimal training I would suggest for all would be acupuncturists. Thanks for listening to my belief structure.
