Guest guest
I've uploaded a writing to the files section (was too long for a post). I'll provide a link in the next post and this post is the comment for the writing. I'm an engineer and I think like an engineer. That's why since I've started learning CM I've been trying to comprehend it as a coherent scientific system. I know it is not, it's more like a compilation of arbitrary, empirically founded, loosely connected statements. But because of my scientific education I did start to ask questions: Why does sadness belong to the Lungs? What is the logical connection? What is Lung at all? Of course even I started to have a 'feeling' of truth behind the words. But I believe this truth can be exposed and expressed in a scientific manner. Without sacrificing a bit of the power of CM (think of bad examples like " Shen/Kidney = adrenal glands " ). So I started thinking on interesting theories which would connect the statements of CM into a strict, logical system where one thing follows from the other. I've been investigating a hidden pattern behind a zangfu system. I think the zangfu organs are multi-level concepts. For example, the Lung functions and unbalance patterns are related to these distinct levels of the Lung concept: - the actual anatomical lung organ - anatomical organs and functions affected by the Lung (meridian), like throat, nose, skin - CM's physiological and mental functions, like Lung's role in governing Qi, housing Po - the deepest level: some very fundamental concept of 'Lungness' In the writing I uploaded I try to explore that deepest level, the hidden system behind the zangfu. It's a hypothesis, it's a logic game around CM concepts. Read only if you're interested playing with theories. It has no immediate clinical consequences. I'm especially interested in critical comments. Tamas
Guest guest
Hi All and Tamas: " That's why since I've started learning CM I've been trying to comprehend it as a coherent scientific system. I know it is not, it's more like a compilation of arbitrary, empirically founded, loosely connected statements. " Let me be the first to offer critical comment: CM is a science. It's certainly different from western medical science but it is a science. Western science itself is a hodgepodge of conflicting information and loosely connected (if at all) theories (many of which are wrong). The usual example involves Newtonian physics.
