Guest guest
To me the H1N1 virus seems to have gotten more attention than it really deserves. It's a lot like the common cold (ie same death and transmission rates), the main thing is that it's something new (being new and unknown can make things more scary), and it affects the middle population more aggressively than the typical young and elderly. For the vast majority of people even if they don't have any immunity to H1N1 (ie a new infection), they wouldn't recognize it as anything more than a common cold. This is what I use for a cold defense (ie don't have symptoms, and want to bolster wei qi) Yu Ping Feng San(Jade Windscreen Powder) http://www.sacredlotus.com/formulas/get.cfm/chinese_formula/yu_ping_feng_san/hig\ hlight/yu%20ping%20feng http://tinyurl.com/ybf5h69 and this is the one I use after I just first notice symptoms Yin Qiao San(Honeysuckle and Forsythia Powder) http://www.sacredlotus.com/formulas/get.cfm/chinese_formula/yin_qiao_san http://tinyurl.com/ydaoymp and the regular things that help against getting the common cold are going to help too, like making sure to get enough sleep, drink enough fluids, mitigating stress as much as possible, etc etc. I don't know if you saw the post that linked to Maciocia recently, but it goes over his interpretation of the H1N1 virus. http://maciociaonline.blogspot.com/ =) Chinese Traditional Medicine , " mgandtherays " <mgwiz wrote: > > Hello folks: > H1N1 has been mostly effecting younger persons, the fatalities among persons over-40-ish have been mostly among those who also have/had some other condition which left them vulnerable to complications from viral infection. So certain populations will be at the front of the line for H1N1 vac when it becomes available. I'm one of those born before 1970 and after 1950 (also not a health-caregiver or first-responder) so I'm one of those who will be at the back of the line for the vaccination. > Those of you also who are in the same group as myself... what have you(s) identified as a formula(s) which will strengthen your immune system and afford you some degree of protection. > In my readings I've learned 'Jade Screen' formula /Yu Ping Feng San(Wan) is one such protective formula and found it available from several sources/companies. > Also I've read in China the Health Department of the City of Shen Zhen together with the Traditional Hospital of City of Shen Zhen have created a 'Influenza Preventing Herbal Tea' formula which they've freely made available to the public (two formulas actually) : > http://alternativehealing.org/swine_flu_herb.htm. > I haven't had any luck finding any company/distributor who has either of these formulas available in No. America though. > What are those of you who will also be at the 'back-of-the-line' for H1N1 vac's (because you're 'middle-age' or not a medical/first-responder or not a caregiver for a young person) doing?... Anyone know where one in No. America might find the exact (and specific for this H1N1) 'City of Shen Zhen' formula? > thank you, mike >
Guest guest
Thanks!... and lets' hope you're correct. Did you see CNN's Sanjay Gupta in the last few days or read his blog?.... He said he and his producer(or cameraman) was sicker than at any other time, couldn't keep foods down, needing fluids....that's not the common cold. I want every ounce of protection I can find. To replicate that 'city of Shen Zhen' formula (which was formulated for this specific H1N1 strain) might cost at least 35 bucks or so (plus shipping). If I can't find that available already whipped up by/from a source in N. America, then i'll probably do that myself at home. AND 'Jade Screen' for good measure as well.... take care & stay healthy (!).... mike
Guest guest
I want to apologize, for some reason when I read your post I thought you were asking about what the concerns were for H1N1 and what to do about it, not specifically asking where to get herbs for a certain formula =P I also didn't recognize that the same formula I listed (Yu Ping Feng), is the same one you already mentioned. Sorry about that. With that said, I think you're wise to be checking in to it to see what you can do about it. I haven't read his blog or seen that show, but I believe it. You could get very sick with this, there's no doubt. For probably over 99% (see note at bottom) of people it's going to look something like the common cold, but for the few, it's going to be really rough, perhaps fatal. I know there are those who sell herbs and will make up formulas on this board. The two I know of are Bob Linde and Al. You could check with them and see. I'm not really sure either if the formula you linked to would be better than the Yu Ping Feng for the H1N1 or not, that might be worth finding out. Or specifically what ingredients you are having a hard time locating, and see if there is a good substitute or if you can leave them out. Good luck =) If you want to know the level of hospitalization for all types of flu check http://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm Scroll down to the part where it says Influenza-Associated Hospitalizations. For your age group it looks something like 1 per 15 or 20 thousand population needs to be hospitalized for the flu, and that includes all types of flu. If you look right below that, you can see the outpatient data. It looks like the extra risk factors are the underlying conditions of asthma, diabetes, heart disease and pregnancy. http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/surveillanceqa.htm Chinese Traditional Medicine , " mgwiz " <mgwiz wrote: > > Thanks!... > and lets' hope you're correct. > Did you see CNN's Sanjay Gupta in the last few days or read his blog?.... > He said he and his producer(or cameraman) was sicker than at any other time, couldn't keep foods down, needing fluids....that's not the common cold.
