Guest guest
When you stick a needle into the skin, there is an immune response. This is also called a " histamine " response. This is normal, and even good because it means that this component of your immune system is active and healthy. This histamine response can create a red dot or even a little hive/mound. It can also itch. It may act like a mosquito bite, but it shouldn't last long and in my book is considered normal, if not healthy. Chinese medicine doesn't have an opinion on this, to my knowledge. -al. Can the acupuncturist try using a different type of needle on you? Some have coatings, and it's possible that you're reacting to a coating on a needle, depending on the brand being used.
