Guest guest
How does TCM describe the ganleon cysts and how and why they appear as well as how to get rid of them? I have one on my right wrist and one forming on my left. Cysts occur at weak points in the body I have heard. Bill
Guest guest
Hi Bill, Ganglion cysts are generally considered " phlegm nodules " in Chinese medicine as are many soft squishy lumps. The treatment that seems to be favored by most is to just slam a big heavy book down on the lump and break it up. Not sure that I'd do that myself, but that's what is done. -al. On a sidenote if one had diabetes melitus would eating instant oats and splenda be ok? I've heard the 5 minute oats are ok but I like the instant ones. They're rolled more and refined more. Instant oats I've head turns to starch too fast. Bill

Guest guest
You should think of Galen and Hippocrates. Their medical ontology was very similar to that of TCM. Read ANATOMY OF MELANCHOLY by Robert Burton. Quite and eye opener. Not sure about the oats. I would think more processed would mean not as good for you. - " Bill Cunningham " <billcu1 <Chinese Traditional Medicine > Wednesday, September 02, 2009 5:34 PM Re: [Chinese Traditional Medicine] gangleon cyst > > - > " Al Stone " <al > <Chinese Traditional Medicine > > Wednesday, September 02, 2009 7:19 PM > Re: [Chinese Traditional Medicine] gangleon cyst > > >> Hi Bill, >> >> Ganglion cysts are generally considered " phlegm nodules " in Chinese >> medicine >> as are many soft squishy lumps. >> >> The treatment that seems to be favored by most is to just slam a big >> heavy >> book down on the lump and break it up. Guest guest
Hi Bill, I just found out that the small nodule on my R Wrist is a Ganglion Cyst.My Physician told me they are due to repetition. He,my Physician had one on the top of his R Hand and went to Doctor. He asked his Doctor what it is.The Doctor told him a GC.Doctor got the heaviest Book he had and slammed it down on the GC,but it came back,so he had it Surgically excised.Didn't do anything for mine! The proper herbs I think would break it down. I have used tea tree oil on it 3-4 times a day and it gets larger so that might be some progress. The good news is that these are always benign. You can have them asperated I guess or cut out. I'd just as well make a salve from herbs and apply it topically. Chapparal they say is good. I don't know about the chinese herbs. Guest guest
Hello, I had a ganglion cyst on the arch of my right foot. My dog, who weighed 130 pounds, stepped on my foot and launched herself. I had a small scratch and bruise and forgot about the injury when these healed. A few months later, a continuously growing bump appeared on my arch that hurt if depressed. I went to the podiatrist, who diagnosed it as a ganglion cyst. He tried to aspirate the cyst, but it was too dense. I then had outpatient surgery to remove the cyst. The doctor found that a bone in the arch had shifted, causing a point that irritated the nerve and tendon. He dissected past the nerves and blood vessels, used a dremmel tool to grind down the offending bone, removed the cyst, then stitched me back up, all under twilight anesthesia. I was off work for two weeks with limited mobility and on pain medication. I have a three inch scar on that foot, but no re-occurrence of the cyst. My father had one removed from his right thumb in this past year. His doctor calls them " Bible Bumps " and usually prescribes hitting them with a large book.
