Hello,

I hope may be someone has suggestion for me.

I am usually cold but in the last year, I've been really cold, especially my

knee and my back (under shoulder blade to lower back). My hip bones, thighs and

elbows are cold too. My back and hamstring are very stiff when I wake up. I

have to do some stretching on hips and back through out the day. Else when I

wake up, I feel like my back been thrown out the wrong way.

I seemed to be more prone to injury lately. I sprung my thumb playing beach

volleyball a month ago and not healed yet. A month and half ago I had my first

tendinitis.

I go to lady used to be licensed Traditional Chinese Doctor in China hospital

for 30 years. She does massage, cupping and acupuncture for me. She asked me

where is pain. Then she pokes different points and see if they hurt and do

acupuncture and massage on those points. She did diagnostics on first visit and

seems reluctant to do them on subsequent visits. Perhaps it is because she

didn't charge for diagnostics. Even though she doesn't charge very much, I

prefer not to have to go see her once every two weeks.

By the way I am 49 years old. Any suggestions on things I can do to help

myself?

Thanks

Christine

I don't feel thirsty lately. So I drink when I remember. Urine is sometimes

yellow and sometimes almost no color. Sometimes there is a smell to it. This

happened before. My doctor did test and said there was bladder infection. I

would then drink lots of water to try to flush it out.

QiGong. There are warming, yang building forms. Maybe try some warming

herbs and foods, like ginger or cayenne.

Definitely sounds like a yang/ming men deficiency. What's your urination

like, if I may ask?

There are a variety of places where cold can be found (or in some cases a

lack of heat). One of them is in the musculoskeletal system, another is

deeper in the Kidneys. Your symptoms somewhat represent both, and certainly

treating both would be of some benefit to you.

Warming the Kidneys (and urinary bladder) channels and organs would address

the cold sensations in the knees and lower back, and to a certain extent the

spine area up the entire back. Also bones, and thighs can fall under the

Kidney's control. The elbows are different, but that's really the only

outlier. A good formula for you might be " Si Ni Tang " which is " frigid

extremities decoction " . You might also consider adding some gui zhi

(cinnamon twig) for the elbow pain, gao ben and qiang huo for the upper back

cold sensations.

Using moxibustion over those locations where you feel cold is going to be of

some assistance to you.

Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
