Tibetan Medicine Level 1 16-20

July 10:00-6:00

This is the first course in a four year Tibetan Medicine program,

based on authentic study of the ancient Four Tantras; utilizing an

interactive, visual learning method based on the medical thangka

paintings, where the entire theory and practice are depicted as trees

in the garden of the Medicine Buddha’s mandala.

This first year’s course is on the Root Tantra, covering the

fundamentals of Tibetan Medicine, divided into three trees:

Health and Disease: teaching the basics constituents of a healthy

body, and simple pathology, based on the five elements and three

humours.

Diagnosis: understanding how imbalances in the body can be

observed, an introduction to pulse, tongue, urine, and questioning.

Treatment: the foundations of nutrition, herbology, healthy

lifestyle, and external therapies (such as massage, herbal baths,

moxabustion, acupuncture, etc.)

While this first year study is the first step on the journey to become

a practitioner of Tibetan medicine, it is useful for anyone, as it

teaches the basic knowledge of how to be healthy in a human body.
