Guest guest
hi ms Mary, -You might try dumping table salt & switching to sea salt & watch the cravings diminish! 'Table salt is normally rock or ocean salt that is mined, heat blasted, chemically treated, and then anti-caking agents and iodine added to it. What you have left is table salt that is basically dead. It is now just dry sodium and chloride. Once again man is cheating us of one of Mother Natures most perfect foods. Processed salt is now devoid of all the essential minerals and macrobiotic nutrients that our bodies need to survive.' http://ezinearticles.com/?Natural-Sea-Salt-Versus-Table-Salt,-the-Good,-the-Bad-\ and-the-Ugly & id=502186 -sea salt has 2 elements & table salt has only 2. cheers dar Chinese Traditional Medicine , > " marykorunic " <marykorunic wrote: > > > > What do salt cravings mean in TCM?I even eat salt by > itself:)
Guest guest
I recently looked up some info on sea salt vs regular salt. Wikipedia has a pretty good chart that shows the difference between the two as far as the macro-nutrients. It may be worth looking at. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sea_salt-e-dp_hg.svg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_salt of course each sea salt from different area's has different micro-nutrients and mineral composition (0.7% of sea salt according to wikipedia), and that's what gives the different sea salts their different colors. Guest guest
A friend of mine brought me some kosher salt recently. I thought it was pretty good. Surprised me that i could even tell the difference. As for the iodine added to conventional salt, that was one of the great breakthroughs for public health. It has prevented numerous hypothyroid and goiter conditions amongst the general population. I'm okay with the iodine. It's right up there with " germ theory " and washing your hands before eating and other standards of personal hygiene that has added years to the general population's longevity. -al. Guest guest
I'm all for hand washing, but the " germ theory " isn't necessarily what it's cracked up to be, imo. - " Al Stone " <al <Chinese Traditional Medicine > Sunday, March 22, 2009 3:03 PM Re: [Chinese Traditional Medicine] Re:What do salt cravings mean >A friend of mine brought me some kosher salt recently.
