Hi, Welcome to the group.

This sounds fascinating. I would think that you are mainly going after the

hydrosols, especially for plants like Lemon Balm.

There is an article at Aromatic Sage in their last issue on Home distillation

if you've never seen the process for yourself...

<A HREF= " Http://www.aromaticsage.com " >Http://www.aromaticsage.com</A>

You can find the link to the article on the front page. Oh! One last thing,

don't try and to it, It's defunct. ;-)

Cheers!

David,

Gee, I have never looked at it in depth. Oklahoma is number two in plant

diversity in the US. Many herbs grow wild here and many have been introduced to

this area through the years. Some are native and some have escaped into the

wild. Everything I wildcraft comes from about 960 acres that have not been

disturbed for over 30 years except for cattle grazing. I think of them as wild,

as they have grown there without human intervention for all those years. The

Choc mint I planted a few years back. Hope this answers your question. Jackie

Jackie,

Wow! That's cool!

I want to encourage you to get some of that Chocolate Peppermint too! Would

love to have some more of that hydrosol and try the EO.

And welcome to the group.

Now, not meaning to be a snotty nosed kid, but how does one wildcraft herbs that

aren't native to the region?

Jackie,

I was just wondering. People make all kinds of claims. Thanks for not taking

offense.

I tend to question and be rather skeptical, especially when it isn't possible.

Well, I must say I'm looking forward to the Chocolate Mint goodies!

David,

I understand your question and had never really thought about it. I thought I

would research a little more, so if I was asked again I could explain it

better. Below is a statement by Tim Blakley from HerbFest 98 which explains what

wildcrafting means,

Wildcrafting is the harvesting of any plant that is not in cultivation. In

other words If you are not picking from a farm or garden then you are

wildcrafting. If you pick a dandelion in a sidewalk crevasse in Seattle then you

are

wildcrafting.

Thanks! So natralized things are O.K, cool. Thanks for defining the term.

For restless leg, I would put my legs against a wall and lie on the

floor so circulation would readjust. Eat alkaline foods like fruits

and veggies. You can find lists on the internet.

I had restless leg, cramps etc until I began treating my thyroid and

adrenals....is now gone. Really gone ....its like why did I put up with it

that long?

A really good mineral supplement will also help many things....we all are so

imbalanced in minerals. Calcium should be exact same mg as magnesium....

taken along with all the trace minerals.

I'm new too. I have no idea what was done to your previous group but

I found you via a posting about your name change on my VCO group. I

have had a few decades of experience in mind/body medicine both as a

practitioner and a recipient. I enjoy using various foods and

supplements for healing. It appeals to my inner mad scientist. My

main health challenge is hepatitis C although I am more recently

bothered by a frozen shoulder.

Hi Selena....Look for a good mineral complex. I have learned the hard way.

So now I take Viactiv chews. But I also have a Magnesium Complex by Nature

s Way and a Coral Calcium with trace minerals by Nature's Way. Magnesium

and Calcium should be taken in equal doses ....both do affect muscles of

which the heart is one. I will not take them separately again.

I used to get the restless leg and sometimes cramps. Then my heart would

send my blood pressure high. I would rely only on Magnesium which worked to

lower BP. Heart would be pounding at night so I would get up take a mag.

And drink a full glass of hot water. It always worked but then recently it

stopped working. Then my hand was painful and swollen....thru my reading I

realized I HAD IMBALANCED calcium and mag. So began taking calcium and the

pain stopped.

I found this on www.iThyroid.com which confirmed my self diagnosis. This

person JOHN had a similar thing happen.

http://www.ithyroid.com/john.htm Read about him and you will see he has

really researched this mineral thing.

Taking one mineral for a time can imbalance the rest and cause big problems.

As I have learned about B Complex ....taking one alone creates a higher

need in the others.

http://www.ithyroid.com/latest_ideas.htm Read this site he does know what

he is talking about.

Blessings today,

Veronica

Have you had a hair analysis? This is the best investment I ever made! for

about $90 you can have a guide to replenish deficient minerals and detox metals

etc. I thought arthritis was linked to allergies- have you considered the ELISA

blood test to test for allergies? Have you ever gone off wheat and dairy for 3

months to see how you feel? I have a few tried and true gluten free recipes I

can post if you like.

Good luck,

Dianne

What is a hair analysis? What is the ELISA blood test? I don't eat

much dairy in general. I haven't completely gone off wheat and

dairy. I'd be happy to see those recipes.

Over the years I've been on Elevil, Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft. Elevil

would send electrical current sensations intermittantly through my

brain. Kind of like electric shocks. I had 2 out of body experiences

on Prozac. All three of the SSRIs left me feeling detached and not in

full control as well as extremely fatigued. I refuse to use any of

them as a result. I currently use 5-HTP which seems to boost my mood

and helps me to sleep better. I recognize my anxiety for what it is

and move past it. I know this doesn't work for everyone but I don't

like anything that takes away my feeling of control so I try to

handle it as naturally as possible.

As a yoga instructor, I would suggest going to a yoga class to learn

CORRECT breathing techniques. One simple thing to do is to do long

deep breathing through the right nostril. Just sit in an easy

comfortable position. Take your left index finger and block off your

left nostril. Breathe through the right nostril. Also learn breath

of fire. Go here to find some teachers.

Hi, just a quick introduction -

I took the antidepressant Celexa from Feb 2001 to Feb 2004 for

depression/anxiety. I came off of it due to mental and physical

problems - emotional numbness, poor sexual function, and prostate

pain. I was told I would return to " normal " within a few weeks. This

never happened.

While some symptoms have subsided (such as prostate pain), I still

battle sexual dysfunction on a daily basis. I've tried many

allopathic/homeopathic/naturopathic remedies with little success.

I recently began TCM treatment - I'm doing accupuncture weekly (2

sessions so far) and am on a strict program of herbs and supplements.

It's only been a few days. I really hope this works.

Does anyone here know anyone with similar problems that has been

treated successfully?

Thanks -

Luther
