Guest guest
Dear list, I regret to inform all that " Victoria Dragon " (aka Judy) passed away on May 12th. She was recently diagnosed with late-stage lung and pancreas cancer. Judy began this list in something like 1996 and because of her long and well-researched answers to basic questions about TCM, some of her better posts were added to the website acupuncture.com while I was in the driver's seat over there. This initiated a long and respectful relationship between she and I. In one way or another, that relationship will continue on. This particular mailing list will not see any significant changes in her absence. She made it a point to pass on the torch before her passing and I am happy and honored to carry that torch into the future. Here's a little more, from her obituary: http://tinyurl.com/6yq65c And some of the writings that she leaves behind at acupuncture.com: ttp://tinyurl.com/6ekqas -al. -- , DAOM Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. Guest guest
I shall miss Judy's (Victoria Dragon's) presence here on the group. Judy was always so good & reliable in answering posts. She'd explain those little bits of individual info that helped me better understand how TCM works. I really think she was an amazing person. I only knew her through this forum, from her personal responses to me & from the other writings that she left behind. When I first read her thorough & very knowledgeable answers, it prompted me to see what else I could find of hers. That's why I knew about her other writings. For an 'ordinary' layperson writing on TCM, she did so with authority but humility, never sounding the lease pompous or know-it-all. We all owe her a debt for her contributions & for forming this list in the first place. We'll meet again, Victoria! And thank you, Al, for letting us know of her passing. And also for carrying on her work & this list. Bless you. (As a side note, my intense itching stopped fairly soon when I stopped all gluten or wheat products & any sources of iodine. Thank you for your help there.) Guest guest
I thought I would also write and express my thanks to Victoria Dragon in all her efforts with this message board. My story is probably like many others, one day I was looking online for some stuff about TCM and I came across this group. Judy was very nice and welcoming, and I found this place very nice to share idea's and help others with the limited amount I know, and also a friendly place to ask questions and get answers. I always appreciated how Judy would take the time to dissect answers and explain them out in a way that a beginner could understand, making sure to always note things like the liver vs Liver. I've always found it exciting to have one of her posts in the inbox to read and learn something new or see a different approach or just review. I also appreciated her posts on PWC (people with chronic fatigue syndrome as she called it), it was a big help to me as I have the same thing going on. I feel like I've learned a lot from her and she was real great! She was always willing to take the time to share her experience and knowledge from her experiences selflessly. I really appreciate what she did and the environment she created here, and I'm really glad that she had the foresight to see that she might not be able to take care of this group into the future and asked Al to help her out, and I'm also very grateful to Al for accepting the offer and continuing the journey =) We'll miss her for sure, but I'm sure she is in a good place right now and isn't troubled so much by her body, and can more freely share her gift and insights =) I'm grateful to have known her! Rex looks like the " h " in that other link isn't there, so I thought I would just update it so everyone can use it. http://tinyurl.com/6ekqas Chinese Traditional Medicine , " Al Stone " <al wrote: > > Dear list, > > I regret to inform all that " Victoria Dragon " (aka Judy) passed away on May > 12th. Guest guest
I am so very sorry to hear this. I came to this list several years ago when I was a beginning student of TCM. Victoria Dragon's posts helped elucidate points on more than one occasion. She did a wonderful job of making this medicine accessible and real (with her many fine metaphors and explanations). She will be missed and I am sure well remembered. Al, thank you for your posts and for agreeing to take over the reigns. It is a great honor to her and is much appreciated. I was out of town for some time, so am just now getting caught up on the posts. I'm very saddened to hear of her death, had no inkling she was struggling with illness again. I too appreciate her establishing this list; my harddrive is filed with megabytes of files from her posts to use as references. I appreciate you taking over Al, your knowledge is quite vast as well, and you can also explain it very simply if need be, so nonprofessionals can understand. sue
