Guest guest
I have a very itchy yeast infection. Somewhere I read that it results from an overloaded liver that isn't able to clean properly. What chinese medicine can offer for this itchy problem? How can I cleanse my liver affectively if that's what I have to do? Is there any chinese medicine practitioner in my area (Northern NJ)? It could very well be your liver, but you would have to also know in what general context for most treatment to be efective, especially root cause treatment vs symptomatic treatment. There will be many many practitioners in your area, esp depending on how close you are to NYC. Here are a few tools to help you find someone. http://dol.jkmcomm.com/acupuncture/default.asp and on this one you can pick the city that is closest to you and do the search that way. http://www.acufinder.com/Acupuncture/New+Jersey if you have trouble feel free to e-mail me with your zip code and I can help you out =)
Guest guest
Hi Sara, Various Chinese patent formulas and topical preparations might help this but the pulse and tongue and ten questions have to be taken in an intake session. Without a TCM diagnosis coming form this session, treating the condition is literally a shot in the dark. Try check www.nccaom.org for North NJ. The other thing to consider is a tea tree oil douche followed by a yogurt douche. Goes like this... Buy a med to large rubber hot water bottle w/ a douche attachment at Duane Reade or like vendor. Fill the bag with warm water and add 3-6 drops of teatree oil, careful!!!, a little goes a long way, and as this is a strong antifungal it can irritate tender skin!!!!! Shake it and apply. Do this for 2-3 days. Then same process with 2 tablespoons of good whole, active yogurt for a couple of days to restore normal fuana and flora. Lastly make sure your MD has ruled out any serious infection which the yeast infection might be secondary to. All these suggestions are made by a layperson not a qualified MD but many have found it helpful. Guest guest
A highly effective home treatment of yeast infections is using live- culture plain yogurt as a suppository. Insert it nightly for 5-7 nights, wearing a pad to avoid making a mess of the bed as it drains out. It would also speed up healing time to insert yogurt several times per day, if you can remain prone for periods of time throughout the day. It also helps soothe the itching. I know this because I recently got out of the hospital and was sent home with an iv to get doses of antibiotics. The dang antibiotics( as expected) caused a severe reaction with a yeast( fungal) infection. The suggestions already made to you about the yogurt suppository was goods but....Go to your local health food store and buy some probiotic capsules which can be found in a refrigerated case there.Start taking the capsules,2 capsules three times per day with each meal. This will help tremendously with getting your intestines back in the health range as well as populate them with friendly bacteria.A good Chinese medicine doc can treat your immune system with acupuncture as well as give you herbs to " kill " the fungus or overgrowth of bad bacteria. It will take a little time but it does work.Use the yogurt internally mixed with the contents of one broken probiotic capsule and get it in there. My acupuncture doc said using these two in combination will really help. Hope this helps. mermaidknows
Guest guest
I haven't been able to respond to any posts in a while so I'm coming in late here. Many suggestions have been given but I'm offering one from a somewhat different viewpoint. (Unless I missed a post that mentioned what I'm going to write. If so, I apologise.) The typical daily North American or European diet is very different from the Asian diet. Far more sugar & sweet foods are consumed here than in Asia. Sweets are used less & more as occasional treats. I know foods & eating habits are changing around the world & many Asian people (especially young ones) now consume almost as much sugar as in western cultures. But traditionally, sweets & sugars were used in small amounts & not daily. Every TCM practitioner I've talked to has stressed how important it is not to eat much sweet foods. I guess they expect that I eat the typical western diet which I don't. I do crave sweets more in winter but now I'm careful even then, to only occasionally eat sweets. Even a lot of 'healthy' foods like fruits, if too much is eaten, provides more sugar than is good for us. High sugar consumption tends to keep blood sugar levels higher than normal & can feed fungal infections. My ex-husband ate LOTS of sweet foods & candies. I'm not saying this caused him to develop diabetes in his late 30s but something led up to it & he wasn't overweight at all. He continued to eat lots of sweet things while trying to take medication to control his blood sugar levels. Of course, it wasn't too successful & he ended up in the hospital & now has to take insulin by injection. He was plagued with fungal skin infections that could never be treated successfully. So check over your diet. If you eat ready-made or refined foods (crackers, cookies, candies, salad dressings, sauces & spaghetti mixes, pop, 'fruit' drinks, pizzas), they all contain lots of sugar, even those that you might not think sweet. Pop is one of the worse - one can contains about 10 teaspoons of sugar! Cut back on sugar consumption - way back if you eat lots of sweets. This in itself won't 'cure' a fungal or yeast infection but it will enable treatment to prevent its return. Otherwise, no matter what you do, fungal/yeast infections will reappear just like weeds in fertile loosened soil. Normally, various yeast, fungi, & bacteria live harmoniously on & in our bodies & are there for a purpose. It's only when we disrupt their balance that they cause problems & disease conditions.
