Guest guest
Hi there, I took a program on introduction to TCM and self-massage and reflexology. In particular, I am very interested in facial diagnosis. I came across this link: http://www.acupuncture.com/education/diagnosis/facial.htm This is same as what my instructor talked about. Since the class was in Chinese and I didn't konw if there is facial analysis in reflexology as well. I am not sure where I can learn more about it. I need to learn it in English because my Chinese is not all that great. This seems to be very effective and non-instrusive method in learning one's health condition. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I live in Vancouver, BC Canada. It is close to Seattle. Thanks, Christine
Guest guest
Hi, Christine: I've heard about some teachers of facial diagnosis who travel around, but not sure whether they give seminars in English. It is possible that they might visit Vancouver or Toronto. There are a few books about facial diagnosis and hand diagnosis published in Chinese, but not sure of any English language materials. There are even some people who do foot diagnosis in public areas in some Chinese cities, perhaps that is related to reflexology in some way. There is a Chinese book on eye diagnosis that was published a few years ago. A decade ago there was a doctor in British Columbia who was pioneering the practice of eye diagnosis over the internet. You might try to look him up, but that was ten years ago. Hope that helps, can't remember the details. Guest guest
Hi, Christine: You may wish to check out this site: http://www.frzee.com/ of a Hong Kong teacher of facial diagnosis. Who knows, he may travel to Vancouver or Toronto. There is a Chinese writer named Wang Da Wang who wrote a book about hand diagnosis, not sure if his work has been translated into English. He's written other esoteric books, one of them about the ancient relationships between Chinese and Mesoamerican cultures. Guest guest
Hi Jack: Thanks very much for your suggestions. I do speak Cantonese and understand some traditional Chinese writing. Perhaps my Dad can help me with book on facial analysis. My teacher for the introduction to TCM and self-massage and reflexology course said the facial analysis is very simple. Would it be possible to learn it from books. I am planning to visit China with a friend next fall. Perhaps we can visit Hong Kong the same time. Guest guest
Hi, Christine: That sounds like a great plan. If you visit Hong Kong and later visit Guangzhou from there (about 1 hour away) the Xin Hua (New China Science & Technology, 2nd floor, right - hand side) bookstore on the upper end of Beijing Road might still carry many of the books about facial, hand and eye diagnosis. The hand and eye books that I've seen are fairly good quality with colour photos of people's hands, which reveal the diseases they suffer from. Between the books and the seminar you should do fine. The name of the Chinese author is Wang Da You, (not Wang Da Wang). Kind regards, Jack Qi Men Dun Jia --- cyhomail <chrisyho wrote: > Hi Jack: > > Thanks very much for your suggestions. Guest guest
I took a course in Calgary 2 years ago by Lillian Bridges, it was quite interesting, I think she has a website that is under her name. I believe she is from Arizona or California. Guest guest
I don't know how this will apply to your situation, but I thought I would mention it just incase it would work =) There is a fairly big reputable TCM school in Seatle, which if I remember right is about 200 miles from Vacouver, so probably a 3 or 4 hour drive. Anyways here is a link that I found on a CEU type class for acupuncturists, MD, and/or advanced students. I don't know if you fit in those catagories, but if not, atleast it tells you that they have someone who knows, is fluent and teaches it. Maybe there is a class that would fit your situation somehow. Anyways the university is called Bastyr, the website is www.bastyr.edu and the link to the class that I found is here http://www.bastyr.edu/continuinged/calendar.asp?cid={C457154F-DD9A-4C08-AD8B-B3E\ 267D92AF5} hopefully that helps out =) Chinese Traditional Medicine , " cyhomail " <chrisyho wrote: > > Hi there, > > I took a program on introduction to TCM and self-massage and > reflexology.
