Is it a good time to make Oleander soup?

I have plenty of Oleander in my backyard - we are the second owners of the house. I was told that the plants have not been sprayed by the first owner. Should I wait until summer to make the soup or can I make it now. We live in Northern CA. Any suggestions?shanti
