Waking up in the middle of the night with a racing heart is often from low thyroid that might be from low Iodine. Hawthorn is a tonic for the heart and can only help. Hope this helps.Dr. Eliezer Ben-Joseph

I have been following the posts about HBSyrup and have a question. My husband occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night w/ a racing heart and he can't go back to sleep bc of it. He doesn't really suffer from panic attacks. This racing heart thing happens every now and again and I think it is probably related to stress. He's had this problem for years and he has had all kinds of tests and all is normal.

My question is: how does the HBSyrup actually work and what is the dosage protocol? Is it to be taken all the time to lessen panic/anxiety? Or can we take it at the time of his racing heart problem to make it go away? I bought a bottle but don't especially want to give it to him all the time (in addition to all the other stuff we take) to help w/ a problem he only experiences a few times a year.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Marcia

Marcia,I took Hawthorne Berry Syrup this past summer when I was very ill. Even though thank goodness, I did not get any panic attacks, my anxiety was extremely high and there were times that my heart raced out of control. The recommended dosage is half a teaspoon. However, to stabilize myself, I took half a teaspoon several times a day and right now I can't remember exactly how many times I took it. I want to say four. My situation was extreme though. I want to say that it does work but it may take a few days to completely calm the heart. After about a week my heart had stabilized. Assess your husband's situation and maybe give him half a teaspoon daily. And then definitely give him half a teaspoon during the times that he has a racing heart. And just see how it goes. I only have myself to go by so I am not an expert. This may very well stabilize him after a while, but if there should ever be a reoccurrence, you will have it on hand.I hope I have helped.oleander soup , "sunlovernv" <Marcia_Grogan wrote:>> I have been following the posts about HBSyrup and have a question. I looked up Hawthorn Berry Syrup on Vitacost and the directions say 1/2 teaspoon 3 times a day. I've never taken it before though so have no personal experience with it. That sounds about right, although for my condition I took a bit more then slacked down as I felt better. It's pricey, but well worth it. It's cheaper at http://www.iherb.com , and for first time buyers, by inserting Code XOT949 you get $5.00 off the purchase price.oleander soup , david mung <davidmungdol wrote:>> I looked up Hawthorn Berry Syrup on Vitacost and the directions say 1/2 teaspoon 3 times a day.
