Hello everyone

We had to take my mom into hospital as she got weaker and wasn't voiding.

They did bloodwrk and her WBC is 38 which is extremely high. No fever. High

potassium low sodium which is confusing them. Her urine is dark. Her alt ast has

gone higher but bilirubin lower since one stent put in her duct.

They think so far maybe cancer has spread to her adrenals or she has sepsis and

x Ray showed maybe pnuemonia or fluid in lt lung. But she has no cough or fever.

Bp 100/60 temp good.

Anyone have any feedback. We are staying in hospital. I will stay with her. And

the oncologist will see her tommoro as they will admitt her.

I don't know what the heck to do. Or to ask them. She has ascites and edema of

lower extremities. They gave her lasix and antibitics. I hope they will give her

albumin to help with ascites?

Anyfeedback on what I should be asking would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi

Quick question. Should I continue to give her the anvirzel. I have it with me.

You don't think it would hurt or attribute to her electrolyte imbalance or have

any negative effect?

I just googled anvirzel and a sideeffect of oleander according to acs.org is

high potassium. I guess I should stop the medication. She has been taking it

orally

Medications can contribute to a low sodium and high potassium. They're giving her Lasix, which should help the edema in her legs. For the ascites, they will probably want to do a paracentesis to pull the fluid. If they do, they'll probably also stain it to check for malignant cells in the fluid. As she's in the hospital, they'll probably also give her Kayexalate to bring the potassium down and normal saline to help raise her sodium. They won't want to correct these imbalances too quickly, because of shock to the body. Her blood pressure seems good, not like a sepsis response. The high white blood cell count can be a stress response and not necessarily an infection; although, she could have an infection and still not have a fever, depending on what else is going on in her body.

There are many more knowledgeable than I am about what you can do to help. I just hope I helped explain some of the things that they may want to do to your mom.

Prayers from us here....

Shara

That's exactly what they did. She's in better spirits but still very weak. The

doctor was nice but doesn't give much hope. We however continue to fight. I

wonder what med gave her the imbalance I still think it may be the oleander ?

Everything else I give is enzymes and vit, aminos , chanca piedra, flax , co

q10, poly mva, essiac. So I'm not sure. I got them to put in a picc line and I

hope to take her home in a few days and try some iv meds from a natural doctor

to fight the tumor.

Told them not to bother to order her a tray here as I am bringing in juices made

from home and nutrtional yeast flakes broth. They think I'm nuts! I'm a nurse so

they are leaving me to do my thing. The doctor would not give albumin however he

said it doesn't help?

Thanks for all the support! I will keep you all posted
