Sandra, what's the cough from? When I have had bad coughs I have taken

tinctures/extracts of licorice, thyme, horehound and mullein. I have also

heard of getting the herbs slippery elm and marshmallow as they are

soothing. [mucilaginous = gel like].

When it's so bad it keeps me and everyone else awake at nite, it's codeine

cough syrup. Or Robitussin. It's not worth breaking a rib over, just to stop

it with herbs.

Ricola cough drops

Nettle Tea with honey and orange slices.

Check out allergies...I am allergic to dust and heat from furnaces. If in a

public place in the winter and they turn on the heat it can make me start to

cough. I eat grapefruit and take (1000 mg powder Emergen-C) in fresh juice

throughout the days. I try my best to eat several fresh fruits and veggies

a day. Good luck. I have been researching vitamins and herbs and health

issues since 1964 and the key is know your own body and keep informed.

Watch out for added ingredients or the so called Other Ingredients listed on

vitamin bottles. I used to smoke and when I quit years ago, I was sick from

the toxins leaving my body. I was always sick with Bronchitis and always

getting colds and the flu. The first year after I quit my health improved

dramatically and I began a regime of taking better care of myself and my

family. My oldest daughter was 17 years old before she ever had a cavity

and that happened because she started drinking coke and eating sweets. My

kids always ate tons of cheddar cheese and we never had soft drinks in the

house. I still had seasonal allegeries and got Bronchitis until I started

taking Claritin or Allegra in the spring.

Thanks for listening.

Best of luck,

Rose

Whiskey, lemon and honey is the best thing I have ever found. It is very

soothing to the throat which is usually why we cough in the first place. HTH

This recipe never changes. My mother was giving me this over 50 years ago.

I use to give it to my kids. Guess I forget about it for myself, but I can't

stand the smell of whiskey. Wonder if I could use Southern Confort for the

whiskey. LOL

yep, you can use southern comfort, or rum whatever booze.

My Grandfather used to keep Gin in his office desk when the gals who worked

for him got cramps. Worked every time. Nothing but Gin. Cause back then, it

was really made with juniper berries.

Then this sounds good to me.

Years ago, I had a Dr tell me to keep Brandy in the house. I think I would get

blackberry. He told me to have a shot or two for cramps. 2 or 3 shots worked

every time. Thanks now to remember this if I get a cough.

Always keep Southern Confort in the house, found out many years ago, while

helping a friend through cancer for 4 years. I had many bad days, so about once

or twice a month when it got real bad I would put it on ice. Later my Uncle

lived with us until he passed on from cancer, he as much as I loved him could

drive me crazy. We were searching the kitchen one morning for my Southern

Confort. As I haven't been a big drinker, he asked me what we were searching

for. Was shocked when I told him I needed a drink. LOL

Found out my sweet son had found it first. But I did have some good cognac, it

worked.

I had to calm down before my father got here, I use to do his bills. He came

here while my Uncle was so sick. I didn't know about EO's in those days.

it is from allergies but I haven`t had it this bad for a while, I live a hour or

so from a health food store but when I get to town I`m going to stock up on some

tinctures I make my own echinachia but right now I`m even out of it. This is

very foolish of me to be down like this but I don`t get sick often so I guess I

just haven`t worried about it, but was taught a good lesson,

Thanks for the help

Cough Syrup: Mix equal parts: lemon juice, radish juice, & honey. Let stand 30 minutes and take as needed. There are also a number of good herbal remedies that can combat allergies and asthma. A website at dragonherbs.com has a comprehensive programme of Chinese herbs beneficial for fighting these conditions.Ralph Simoneau <rsimoneau35 wrote: What is good for a cough. I started out with a cold and led to a cough and now i can't get rid of this cough. Having to clear my throat often and then will start up coughing, i can go hours with out coughing also but then i can go on coughing for a while also. I am 37 years old, NON Smoker

and don't do none of that snuff either but I do have asthma and allergies. It has been 3 week with the cough now. If you look at it, it has been 2 week since i been over the cold and stuck with the cough. Any suggestions. Thanks

Hmmm----I always used just regular black or red radishes. The black (winter radish) varieties are said to have more health benefits, but I don't really think it makes a difference. Try to get organic radishes, though, as they have more juice and are usually fresher.Teddyberen wrote: Hi.. When you say radish juice, is it the daikon radish you are talking about, or it does not make any difference? Thanks Diane M

I like TriLight Liquid Herbs for Children. There are a few cough

formulas to choose from - we used Lungs Plus when our child was 1 or 2

with good results at bedtime.

Jennifer,

I had the same problem and most of it was caused by excess mucus from the

nasal cavity and then a very thin post nasal drip that caused the cough. I

found that using an all natural oxygen based nasal spray daily cured all of

the problems for me with no side effects. It was a relief to finally lay

down for sleep and not be coughing the whole time.

Hi Edwin.

If the cough is not from metastasis to the lungs as mention, and is just a cough, try giving your wife a tea made with the follow.

1- Teaspoon Slippery elm powder.

1- Teaspoon fresh ginger grated.

1- Teaspoon natural honey if you have.

1-Drop peppermint oil, add boiling water stir and have her drinked it, she can have this tea 3 times daily.

Also massage her upper back, throat and chest and bottom of feet with a mixture of 10 mils olive oil and 5 drops peppermint oil, shake the bottle 20 times before massaging her.

Hope this help you both Edwin.

Hugs Mary
