coffee enema after and during chemotherapy

My dad started chemo a few weeks ago and is doing well thanks to S/OPC (his

doctors have been quite impressed). I would like to have him start coffee enema

but am a little bit worried because I read on the Internet that chemotherapy

drugs can be accumulated in the tissues over time (he has been on the 5-FU based

pills for more than 1 year), and coffee enema may cause a release of a large

amount of toxins. Has anyone here tried coffee enema after being treated with

chemo? Should we be concerned? Any tips for avoiding any side effects?

Thanks,

Tamaki

I do chemo and coffee enemas. I'm not sure what you might be referring to but I have had no problems whatsoever, and always feel much better after the enema. (You notice I say "after" the enema --- I'm not a great fan of the "during" part. Oh well, nome of this is fun.) Jan--- On Mon, 11/2/09, mind_spotless <passerina wrote:

Jan,

Thank you so much for your response. I feel better now about coffee enema for

my dad. I got the idea from some of the web sites about Gerson Therapy. For

example:

http://www.gerson.org/FAQ/faq.php?faq=20

I guess they are talking about the intense Gerson Therapy causing a massive

detox. Doing coffee enema a few times a week or even once a day is probably safe

(I hope).

Tamaki,

It sounds like your dad has been on chemo for over one year already.

5-FU was given to my mother in 1980 as an experimental drug when she had

ovarian cancer. It put her into a hepatic coma from which she never

recovered, and died shortly thereafter. What chemo is he taking now.... and

what type of cancer are the " treating " ?

Hi Bob,

He has stomach cancer that was metastasized to liver, lung, and a lymph node.

He had total gastrectomy 3 years ago. Since his cancer metastasized to liver

about 2 years ago, he has been on and off the 5-FU based pills called TS1. New

metastasis was recently found in his lung and lymph node, and now he is on

Irinotecan and TS1. When his tumor was removed from his liver, we had the tumor

tested for chemo-sensitivity. 5-FU and Irinotecan were the only 2 drugs tested

positive. Fortunately, his liver is doing well so far, and we would like to

protect the liver with coffee enema and supplements such as milk thistle.
