First question:

Did the patient have chemotherapy with his cancer surgery? Often this

is a cause of numbness in the feet, depending on the chemo regimen.

Secondly, don't 'detox' unless you are sure that there truly is lead

poisoning. This will probably require blood tests. Don't assume this

or treat on this hypothesis. Which zang-fu or channels would you be

'detoxing'? The liver? The concept of liver detox is not in the realm

of Chinese medical treatment.

As practitioners of Chinese medicine, pattern differentiation is the

tried and true tool we have to work with.

The only thing I've seen work quickly and well is chelation, but it's

expensive. Support with haizao and kunbu plus pattern diagnosis.

Thanks for your responses,

I don't know if the fellow has had chemo or not as I haven't diagnosed him

yet, and yes I am consistent with pattern discrimination so would detoxify

according to organ and channel signs, etc.

I do appreciate that the concept of liver " detox " is not in the realm of

Chinese medicine, but I don't think that I fully understand the parameters

of the " energetics " of the organs yet?

I had a new patient last week, who said she is just recovering from extreme

detoxification from heavy metals using chelation therapy. It has taken her

years to get her strength back.

I will tread cautiously to be sure.

thanks

Marjorie,

Isn't it true that chelation therapy can also remove essential minerals from

the body. Wouldn't that feel devastating in its own right??

I have just found an inexpensive heavy metal test kit that supposedly tests

for free running heavy metals through urine. IT uses no chelation product

prior to test. Its sales pitch it that it only finds what the body cannot

handle. Meaning if the body has already stored it away in the connective

tissue then it really is not a problem. If it is free running throughout

the blood it is causing an immense amount of damage and this is what it

tests for. It is distributed by ACUPEDS. Any comments. I am skeptical, but

curious.

>>>>>Most heavy metals are stored in fat tissues including brain, which is

mostly fat tissue. Not using a chelating product can only measure what is in

circulation which does not give you all the info you need.

Thanks for the reference. These results are very consistent with what my

own sources have been saying for years. I've never relied on only a single

product or herb for heavy metal detox. Cilantro has long been thought to

mobilize mercury and other heavy metals, but not good at chelating and

inducing excretion, and the article below seems to be confirm this.

In the early days, I was somewhat skeptical of using cilantro tincture

instead of fresh raw cilantro, as many insisted only the latter would work.

If one does a calculation of the active ingredients likely to be dissolved

in 60 drops of tincture, it is far less that one would ingest with the raw

herb. However, I've heard thoughts among some western herbalists that

herbal tinctures may have properties somewhere in between water decoctions

and low-dilution homeopathics. In any case, in the past few years I've

gradually shifted to using cilantro tincture with similar results to eating

several ounces of raw cilantro per day.

I almost always use a combination of cell-wall-cracked chlorella, cilantro

tincture, and organically-certified seaweeds, which have similar chelating

effects to chlorella in the GI tract, but without many of the tonifying

properties of chlorella. Plus a range of other dietary measures depending

upon TCM patterns (possibly including garlic, onions, crucifers, turmeric,

mung beans, eggs, pumpkin seeds, fang feng).

I note that in the research described in the article, only homeopathic

chlorella plus CFG (chrorella growth factor) was used. Was this to cut down

the expense, as the stated goal was to develop an economical product for

use in 3rd world countries? I wonder if homeopathic cell-wall-cracked

chlorella would be an acceptable alternative for the significant number of

people who have allergic-like sensitivities to full-strength chlorella?

+ a homeopathic-type question:

Who knows what is a " homaccord of homoeopathic chlorella " and what are the

manufacturing steps?

I did not read the article carefully but i thought they compared homeopathic

preparation to Chlorella.

By the way have you used alginate?

Thank you everyone for the very good suggestions for detoxing those metals.

I've thrown so much money at them, thought I had it nearly licked, and now it

appears I have as much metal in me as ever. Time to look for cheaper detox

methods. I really appreciate your input. Thanks.

I had a similar excercise a few years back when I opted to have my amalgams

removed. Before I knew it I had a full blown return of cancer crisis back

on my hands. I struggled getting my arms around it until I purchased two

books and followed Andrew Cutler's guidance carefully.

" Amalgam Illness Diagnosis and Treatment " and " Hair Test Interpretation:

Finding Hidden Toxicities " both by Andrew Cutler.

This entry on curezone says it better than I can:

http://curezone.com/faq/q.asp?a=3,76 & q=102

Cutler's books both available here: http://lymebook.com/ for $35 ea....

(no affiliation)

I tried following any number of Doctors, web sites, gurus, etc. All was a

waste. Following Cutler's guidance I got it squared away over about 18

months...... I was not able to figure Cutler's protocol(s) from the

web..... I needed to spend the $70.

Good Luck & Good Health,

Del
