Guest guest
Hi, Can anyone tell me where I can get curcumin in the bioavailable form? Will it say on it that it is bioavailable? as all the products I have looked at don't mention this. Thanks MM

Guest guest
As far as I know, there are 3 forms of improved bioavailability curcuman available commercially: Curcuman with Bioperene (A number of sources are available) Biocurcumax - Curcuman blended with turmeric oil (an essential oil) Lipisomal encapsulated curcuman ( google search on: [curcuman lipisomal lipisome phytosome]. A number of sources are available) Biocurcumax is more more bioavailable than Curcuman with Bioperene and lasts roughly twice as long in the bloodstream (8 hrs). I haven't seen data on Lipisomal encapsulated curcuman but my guess is that it is equivalent to Biocurcumax. You can mix freshly ground black pepper with curcuman (or turmeric) to get something similar to Curcuman with Bioperene. You can mix curcuman with turmeric oil to get something similar to Biocurcumax. For sources of the commercially available products just do a google search on: Curcuman with Bioperene Biocurcumax Curcuman lipisomal lipisome phytosome - Steve oleander soup oleander soup On Behalf Of infomcfMonday, September 28, 2009 1:55 PMoleander soup Subject: Curcumin Hi,Can anyone tell me where I can get curcumin in the bioavailable form? Guest guest
Hi Tony, I have just looked at the Life Extension site to buy the curcumin and there is a caution at the bottom which says high doses can cause stomach irritation. I have been taking curcumin in high doses but as it was running out I wanted to make sure that the next batch I bought was bioavailable. Now I am wondering if the high dose of curcumin that I have been taking could be causing my stomach problems - do you think this is possible?? But could this be connected in any way to my back pain??? Guest guest
I would not think it could cause back pain. Can you describe the back pain a bit further? Any chance it could be kidneys? Might also be a bit of initial mets to the bone, but we will hope that is not the case - and if it is the pain is likely a good thing. I have never taken a highly bioavailable form of curcumin, as I don't have cancer and funds are limited (if I did have cancer I would not hesitate to take the highly bioavailable form, since biperine/black pepper and coconut milk/coconut oil only slightly increase the absorption). The curcumin/turmeric I take is always with or shortly after a meal, since it causes heartburn for me when taken on an empty stomach. Guest guest
Would you recommend curcumin or cayenne or both for someone with cancer? How much of each per day? Barbara
Guest guest
Hi Tony, The weird thing about the back pain is that it seems to move around. Sometimes its on the right, sometimes the left and sometimes in the middle. It can suddenly come on really severe and at other times its just a niggling pain. At my last scan my kidneys and bones were clear of cancer and that was only about a month ago. I had this same pain about a year ago and the oncologist said it was because of a tumour in my liver becoming enlarged and causing pressure in my lower back??? I wasnt sure whether or not she was just trying to scare me into going onto chemo or whether or not this could have been true. Any ideas? Guest guest
Absolutely both. 2500-3000 mg of bioavailable curcumin daily and a good dropperful of cayenne extract. Take the curcumin with meals to help avoid heartburn or stomach distress. Perhaps mix the cayenne with orange or another juice and be prepared for quite the burn until you get used to it.
