Guest guest
My dentist is replacing my amalgam fillings but she does not think it is necessary to replace my root canal because it does not contain metal. It is filled with gutta percha, a flexible plastic material. Is this correct? If this is wrong, where is a nice article that explains that it needs to go? Guest guest
Karen, Gutta Percha is a rubber material that may also contain some other chemicals or metals but I would not remove this if it isn't bothering you. The danger of cracking the root is great and needless anesthetic injections are also a hazard. Leave it alone if it isn't bothering you. Guest guest
My dentist was fairly sure I had mercury under my root canals and said it usually happens because there is already a filling there and then they just cover the filling with the crown. I'm waiting for the zirconia implants to be available before I have mine removed. I had my fillings removed without the standard anesthetic they use--I used my essential oils on my gums and they took care of the pain.
