I have a large slope in both front and back of house with loads of weeds and just had to hire a gardner due to husband struggling with cancer and he wants to use Round Up on the weeds on the sloops which I have said NO to, but not sure what would be effective and safe to use in place of that killer chemical. Also need safe food palm trees, flowers and fruit trees if anyone has any ideas I would surely appreciate.

Thanks,

Marva

Hi Marva,

The answer is very much dependent on of you have bermuda grass. I live

in Las Vegas, where we have bermuda, and it is almost impossible to

kill, although I think I have been successful by laying down heavy mil

black plastic and then a thick layer of mulch (about 6 inches before

it compacted down).

For more common weeds there is a formula of vinegar, salt, and dish

detergent that kills most things. Perennials may need additional

applications, but that is also often the case with roundup. (I used

to use it before I knew better.)

Ok, this is the recipe I was given for Weed killer all organic:

1 gallon white vinegar

1 cup salt

1 tbsp of dish detergent

Place in a sprayer and the weeds will be dead in 24 hours

Best of luck,

Daniel

Dear Mary and Daniel,

Thanks so much for the information on the weed killer. Daniel I do not have Bermuda Grass as the areas in question are steep slopes wtih a lot of weeds among a few palms and plants we have spot planted. We am in Southern Calif. Everything has been neglected around here as we have been busy trying to get my husband well from cancer including using OPC from Marc. Marva

Hey Marva, how you doing?

Well, do i have a weed killer for you !!!!!!!!! Vinegar and salt will do the job especially in summer time.

You mixed 2 cups salt with 1 bottle vinegar until the salt is disolved and then you spray the weeds.

Hope this helps.

Hugs Mary
