re: Smog and catalytic converters

An elderly scientist/engineer friend of mine who has since passed on

was working on a catalytic converter way back in the day before they

were in the marketplace. He refused to make it though, because he ran

tests and found that what it put into the air was worse than the stuff

the government was testing for. I can't remember if it was platinum

that was forming the offending compound, or what. Of course not long

after he turned down the project, someone else was making them.

 

I long for the day when I can leave the city behind and head for the

mountains with pristine air and spring water!

 

I'm sure will be much better soon since she has so many of us

praying for her.

Yes platinum is used in the production of catalytic converters, so that

is most likely to be the toxic pollutant he was referring to.
