So im requesting some advice on seasoning/cooking veggies.  My neighbor and I are doing a week long strictly fruits and veggies diet of sorts.  WE can eat no bread, rice, animal products crackers etc........only fruits only veggies.  This means that I cannot steam and flavor my veggies like I do normally, with real butter and garlic salt.  I will more than likely eat my veggies lightly steamed, so what kinds of things are the best to flavor or spice them up with...I know there are a few vegans in this group and your input will be much appreciated!!!!!!  Thank you in advance

Mmmmm.... sounds delicious. I use olive oil, garlic, crushed chilli peppers, and Dr. Bronners Liquid Aminos.

Himalayan Crystal salt, with fresh cut garlic cloves, use a small food processor on the cloves and mix in the salt, then add it to anything your eating, very delicious.

There is this incredible stuff by "Eat in the Raw" by Naked Nutrition called Parma! it is a vegan, tastes stupendous, no kidding....give it a try I promise you'll love it, hard to tell it isn't normal parmesan. It is crushed walnuts, nutritional yeast garlic and celtic salt.

No, it isn't mainstream since it is raw vegan, I don't even think Whole Foods carries it. I got it at a very conscientious small community health food store, lots of them here (I live it California). But I know you can get it online for sure.

Hi Marva,

I'm in Northern California 1 hour north of San Francisco in Sonoma County. It is a locally owned health food store called Community Market. I'm sure you probably have one like it somewhere in your town. Otherwise, the internet is a great option, it doesn't have to be refrigerated until it is open so it ships just fine. There are many fantastic raw food vegan websites, tons actually... they are so fun to shop on too, so many goodies. My favorite is therawfoodworld.com, check it out... they also have the most incredible raw vegan ice cream, you won't believe how fantastic it tastes!

Rhonda, my opinion is real salt, not the kind that's been heated to 600 degrees, is something I wouldn't be without. I like Redmond's Real Salt. It's not white like store salt and has minerals and is healthy. I wouldn't be without raw honey and sea salt, my favorite things to buy in the health food store besides soap, and I like the sea salt soap, too.

Hi Rhonda,

 

I put onion powder on many things including avocado which people rave about. If

you are allowing yourself potato (I doubt it) you can mash it up add water and

onion power and make a pretty nice sauce. Of course you can do the same with

avocado.

Yup, no potato for me or bread! I thought i would feel okay but i

have been eating all day long like im always hungry! We modified a

little when we found some awesome soy and flax seed tortilla chips!!!!

They are yummy with pico!!!!!! And my kids even love them!

I have always kinda had tummy issues and i thought cutting

everything out mostly would relieve it some but it doesnt appear to be

doing so, also is my body gonna freak out with no carbs when i work

out? Im worried about that!

I like using Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the Pink Himalayian Salt from Mountain Rose Herbs. One of the things I have borrowed and will forever use from the Budwig cookbook

is 'Oleolux'. You put one cup of flaxseed oil in the freezer and meantime put

one cup of coconut oil in a heavy fry pan with two onions dices and 10 cloves of

crushed garlic and saute until onions are golden. Let cool and strain into the

flax oil. Put in fridge...very aromatic and delish on veggies and sandwiches

etc. It is very healthy as it has omega 6 from the flax and omega 3 from the

coconut which is linked to Peskin's work " The Hidden Story of Cancer " .

Personally, I like the flavor of curry powder on veggies. Also, hummous is

delicious on veggies.

 

About the soy and pita chips---unfermented soy products are extremely bad for

your health. There are numerous sites on the internet that give the research and

reasons, just put " The Dangers of Soy " in the search engine.

Lol on second thought, sorry for not cutting the messages, im worried

about all my childrens health, however the one of my children im most

concerend about that has cancer is allergic to soy so he doesnt eat

those chips!

I assume by eliminated you mean removed from my life as they are

unhealthy for me, but so is my hubby and he's not going anywhere

LOL! LOL! LOL! Ooooooooooh I needed that! You are so funny! This is the first time I have laughed in a long time and it feels so good!

Yes, the unfermented soy, 2 pots of coffee and smokes should be eliminated from your life. As for you husband, if I remember correctly, there was this "for better or for worse" clause attached to the marriage contract. He needs to stay.

I agree with , all of the above (except hubby!) need to be

" eliminated " ...just curious...I don't know if you are joking about the smokes

and the coffee...but it seems odd to be doing a vegan type raw food fast and

also have those above mentioned items on the menu?

Well tobacco is a plant and coffe are beans, this was not my idea,

this raw diet was purely for my neighbors whim! Im still going she

gave in today after only two days! Its hard i feel weak, the only

purpose of my raw diet was to give her company on her mission!

Jill,

If you are feeling weak, you are not getting all of the proper nutrients. One must be thoroughly informed when following a vegan diet.

While I am on this subject, I am looking for someone to guide a friend of mine in switching to Vegan. If you would be willing to help, would you please send me a private email? Also, maybe you could also give Jill pointers?

Soy is used in excess and processed without reason - that is an understatement. Soy is poison to the thyroid. Just because you can't see or feel the damage being done doesn't mean it's not happening. Like nicotine, the killer moves slowly,but it gets the job done. We are now readers of ingredients in products, probably to a fault. Soy is everywhere and in just about everything we put in our mouths unless we are diligent label readers. Make it a point to read everything that has a label. Soy was never meant to be processed in any way, and is not meant to be a major diet contributor, only as a garnish. than my 2 pots of coffee a day and my smokes???? Just curious!
