S/OPC and blood sugar/Increasing Natural Killer Cells

I have had queries about the effect of S/OPC on blood sugar levels and how to increase NK cell count.

As far as the blood sugar level, the following: I have had feedback from diabetics that the Sutherlandia OPC was helping with their blood sugar levels. Both ingredients of S/OPC, Sutherlandia Frutescens and Oleander, are known to balance blood sugar levels and in South Africa there is a clinical trial underway on the use of Sutherlandia Frutescens for diabetes.

As far as NK cells are concerned, I suggest that people who use the S/OPC also take N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC). The NAC helps the body to synthesize its own glutathione, the main anti-oxidant in the body. As the research of Millman et al below shows, glutathione is very important in augmenting NK cell functions.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that natural killer (NK) cells play a crucial role in innate defense mechanisms against Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. Furthermore, NK cell functions are dependent on adequate levels of glutathione. In this study, we examined whether the NK cell-mediated growth control of intracellular M. tuberculosis is dependent on adequate levels of glutathione. We investigated the effects of glutathione both alone and in combination with interleukin-2 (IL-2) or IL-12 or both in modulating NK cell functions, such as cytolytic activity, activating receptor expression, induction of apoptosis, and cytokine synthesis. Our results strongly indicate that glutathione in combination with IL-2+IL-12 augments NK cell functions, leading to control M. tuberculosis infection.

Increaseing Natural Killer Cells

Hi everyone,My wife just got her NK cell count back and it was very, very low. So I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to increase her NK cell count fast? This could possibly be a big reason she has a problem. She has been taking three pills of beta glucan daily for the past nine weeks along with the therapeutic does of Oleander (15mL twice a day). Any thing else come to mind? I obviously feel we have to address this problem immediately so any suggestions would be appreciated.Many thanks everyone.
