My very conventional mom was recently diagnosed a third time with cancer and of course I told her about S/OPC and the trials at MD Anderson. I really want her to take the S/OPC but of course she is skeptical, so she called over to the hospital oncology department at Anderson to speak to various persons about it and no one knew a thing. Please, does anyone know how to find out something about the trials there so she won't kill herself with another round of chemo and the drugs they are giving her again?

The whole new use of Oleander extract has arisen because of the its

discovery and research by a Turkish

doctor -- Dr H. Ziya Ozel -- whose website is at:

http://drozel.org/eng/historical_background.htm

The above site gives case studies by Dr Ozel involved in his success in

curing various forms of cancer.

These two sites - the starfish project and Tony Issacs site are also

very helpful:

http://starfishproject.wordpress.com/category/alternative-medicine/olean\

der/

/oleander4.htm (regarding success against both

cancer and HIV in South Africa)

Best regards,

Tammatha,

It appears as though this trial has yet to start. They are currently in the recruiting phase... trying to get patients for the study.

Hi Tammatha -

The studies have been going on for a number of years. Google M. D. Anderson and

Anvirzel and cancer using the last year or so as additional search criteria and

you will get information. Here's some info until responds:

/Newman_Studies.htm

http://www.saludintegral.hn/Public_Anti-Cancer_Drugs.htm

Info from another site:

Extensive in vitro research has been conducted by Dr. Robert Newman, Chief of

Pharmacology, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center(MDACC), Houston, Texas. Dr. Newman has

tested ANVIRZELTM. against a broad spectrum of human malignant cell lines, and

has demonstrated that ANVIRZELTM has a high order of efficacy.

In addition to the research being conducted by M.D. Anderson Cancer Center,

concurrent research is being conducted by Dr. Wendell Winters, a noted

immunologist with the University of Texas Health Science Center in San

Antonio,Texas. Dr. Winter's work has confirmed that ANVIRZELTM has been " shown

to stimulate the immune system by stimulation of the function and capability of

specific subsets of mononuclear cells. " In addition, Dr. Winters' research has

shown that ANVIRZELTM specifically stimulates T and B lymphocytes, the

cell-mediated and the humoral mediated immune systems.

United States Food and Drug Administration Approved Clinical Trials

In April 2000, a USFDA approved study entitled " Phase I Study of ANVIRZELTM in

Patients With Advanced Solid Tumors " was commenced under the direction of Ronald

Buckowski, M.D. at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Yes, thank you very much for these links I appreciate it very much. I have seen these though, the problem is when my Mom calls M.D.Anderson they haven't a clue, what do I say to her then?. She wants witness and conversation from the horses mouth so to speak, which is understandable I guess. They must know that these trials are going on don't they and who would she speak too? could you please help with this, does Tony have any imput here????

Need help to guide my mom to the S/OPC before it is too late and she succumbs to the chemo, she has started already (this is her third time enduring chemo) I really want her to take the S/OPC while doing the chemo at least......

Thank you~ Tammatha

Tammatha is correct. They did Phase I trials. However, the trials were "shelved" after that. Maybe they are going to start up again? Tony should have more information.

Despite Tight Financial Market, Company with Anti-Cancer Drug in Clinical Trial Raises $3.6 Million in Private Placement

Phoenix Biotechnology, Inc., Has Research and Development Relationship with M.D. Anderson Cancer Center

Last update: 12:56 p.m. EDT Oct. 20, 2008

SAN ANTONIO, Oct 20, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- During a time of tight credit, record-breaking stock market plunges, and shell-shocked investors, anti-cancer drug development firm Phoenix Biotechnology, Inc., has just completed a private placement in which the company raised $3.6 million from individual investors.

The company has an anti-cancer agent based on a patented extract from the oleander plant. The drug is in a U.S. Food and Drug Administration Phase I clinical trial at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Fifty-eight individual angel investors, including 10 physicians, over the past month and a half bought into San Antonio-based Phoenix Biotechnology, Inc., at $8 per share, with an average investment of $62,000.

It is encouraging to see the confidence that these investors have placed in Phoenix Biotechnology during a period of discomforting market turmoil and tightening credit," said Lou Kost Jr., co-founder, executive vice president, and director of Phoenix. "Many people today are looking for opportunities to invest with people they know and trust, and I believe it says a lot about Phoenix that nearly 20 percent of these investors are medical doctors."

Since its incorporation in 2003, Phoenix's focus has been on research to determine the therapeutic potential of various botanical substances, such as oleander.

The company in 2003 established a research and development relationship with the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center's Department of Experimental Therapeutics. The R & D program was established by Robert Newman, Ph.D., professor of Experimental Therapeutics and co-director of the Pharmaceutical Development Center at M.D. Anderson.

The drug in the Phase I trial at M.D. Anderson, known by the working name "PBI-05204," is being tested in patients with various forms of cancer, including colon cancer and pancreatic cancer.

"Our relationship with M.D. Anderson and Dr. Newman led to the discovery of a patented extraction of Nerium oleander that has shown activity against various tumor cell lines in the laboratory, and now we have taken it to the next level with testing in people," said Crandell Addington, co-founder, director, and president and CEO of Phoenix Biotechnology. "The pharmacologically active chemistries of this extract have been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cell growth in certain forms of cancer."

In laboratory tests, the drug has been shown to block several critical oncogenesis pathways in these tumor cell lines, including the PI3k/Akt pathway.

The $3.6 million raised over the past month was the third round of private placement funding for Phoenix. The company has raised a total of $11.8 million in private placements since 2003.

Phoenix has a total capitalization of 14.2 million shares and is debt-free.
