Scientists claim radiation from handsets are to blame for mysterious 'colony collapse' of bees By Geoffrey Lean and Harriet Shawcross Published: 15 April 2007 It seems like the plot of a particularly far-fetched horror film. But some scientists suggest that our love of the mobile phone could cause massive food shortages, as the world's harvests fail. They are putting forward the theory that radiation given off by mobile phones and other hi-tech gadgets is a possible answer to one of the more bizarre mysteries ever to happen in the natural world - the abrupt disappearance of the bees that pollinate crops. Late last week, some bee-keepers claimed that the phenomenon - which started in the US, then spread to continental Europe - was beginning to hit Britain as well. The theory is that radiation from mobile phones interferes with bees' navigation systems, preventing the famously homeloving species from finding their way back to their hives. Improbable as it may seem, there is now evidence to back this up. Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) occurs when a hive's inhabitants suddenly disappear, leaving only queens, eggs and a few immature workers, like so many apian Mary Celestes. The vanished bees are never found, but thought to die singly far from home. The parasites, wildlife and other bees that normally raid the honey and pollen left behind when a colony dies, refuse to go anywhere near the abandoned hives. The alarm was first sounded last autumn, but has now hit half of all American states. The West Coast is thought to have lost 60 per cent of its commercial bee population, with 70 per cent missing on the East Coast. CCD has since spread to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece. And last week John Chapple, one of London's biggest bee-keepers, announced that 23 of his 40 hives have been abruptly abandoned. Other apiarists have recorded losses in Scotland, Wales and north-west England, but the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs insisted: " There is absolutely no evidence of CCD in the UK. " The implications of the spread are alarming. Most of the world's crops depend on pollination by bees. Albert Einstein once said that if the bees disappeared, " man would have only four years of life left " . No one knows why it is happening. Theories involving mites, pesticides, global warming and GM crops have been proposed, but all have drawbacks. German research has long shown that bees' behaviour changes near power lines. Now a limited study at Landau University has found that bees refuse to return to their hives when mobile phones are placed nearby. Dr Jochen Kuhn, who carried it out, said this could provide a " hint " to a possible cause. Dr George Carlo, who headed a massive study by the US government and mobile phone industry of hazards from mobiles in the Nineties, said: " I am convinced the possibility is real. " The case against handsets Evidence of dangers to people from mobile phones is increasing. But proof is still lacking, largely because many of the biggest perils, such as cancer, take decades to show up. Most research on cancer has so far proved inconclusive. But an official Finnish study found that people who used the phones for more than 10 years were 40 per cent more likely to get a brain tumour on the same side as they held the handset. Equally alarming, blue-chip Swedish research revealed that radiation from mobile phones killed off brain cells, suggesting that today's teenagers could go senile in the prime of their lives. Studies in India and the US have raised the possibility that men who use mobile phones heavily have reduced sperm counts. And, more prosaically, doctors have identified the condition of " text thumb " , a form of RSI from constant texting. Professor Sir William Stewart, who has headed two official inquiries, warned that children under eight should not use mobiles and made a series of safety recommendations, largely ignored by ministers. Guest guest
No one knows why it is happening. Theories involving mites, pesticides, global warming and GM crops have been proposed, but all have drawbacks. Do you know what the draw backs are? Looking at the behavior and reproductive issues of many other species around the world including humans is alarming, it is now reaching the high end of the food chain and has been going on long before cell phones were even available within less complicated species. I think that it is important to see that this may be a part of the issue but the issue is now coming to a head from a compiled array of things that have been going on for many of years. I remember my second grade teacher telling us that we will be the generation that will most likely see the mass effects of what has been going on unless great changes are made and that was in the early 80's. We have created even more things that are directly effecting the situation since then. Simply look at the infertility rates, cancer rates and the many other ills that are at epidemic levels in our country that were virtually non existent in our recent past. This article is a good reminder to look at our selves and see how our daily lives truly impact the world and to know that just one person can Do allot more to help then what our culture give credit to. Thanks for the post Domingo. Blessings Sam Domingo Pichardo <dpichardo3 wrote: Doomsday Scenario that is being ignore by the Conventional News Media! Guest guest
Sam, many other possibles causes have been proposed to explain the phenomenon but this one seems to better address the mystery of why we are unable to find the bodies of the dead worker bees anywhere near the hive! The mechanism being proposed by this theory is that electromagnetic radiation from wireless repeating stations (you've seen these tree-like antennas springing up everywhere) are creating interference in the bee's navigation system so they become disoriented and cannot return to the hive... without food, the queen, drones and larvae died of starvation and/or disease! If we assume a higher perspective on this issue, we can consider the Earth as a living entity and the biosphere as its outer physical structure, then we can postulate that the artificial (human) manipulation and restructuring of the environment is causing a disruption in the natural flow of planetary Chi... Chi in this case being defined as the organizing principle that joins together all life forms(down to the cellular and subatomic level) and provides balance between growth and decay in a continuous flux of change! A lot of modern health issues are related to autoimmune disorder where the body cannot recognize its own cells and attacks them causing inflammation leading to arthritis and cardiovascular disease. Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled cellular proliferation where the normal growth/death cycle is disrupted. Viral diseases are characterized by a disruption of the RNA/DNA " information " of the cells by a hijacking agent. The point I am trying to make is that many disease conditions that appear to be unrelated when considered individually maybe all related(in principle) to the same information feedback disruption that in the case of bees is manifested as an inability to recognize their own homes. I don't know how many TCM practitioners are familiar with the work of Wilhelm Reich and his investigations into bioelectric energy which he named " Orgone Energy " ! Bellow is a link to a full detailed article on this and a short excerpt that I pasted here to give you an idea of how similar its definition resembles the Taoist concept of Chi! Love and Light, Domingo http://www.orgone.org/articles/ax9kelley1a.htm _Properties of Orgone -Energy _ Orgone energy, the creative force in nature, is not a form of electromagnetism nor of matter but is fundamental to both. It is the specific life energy, but life is only one particular manifestation of it. Our knowledge about it is partial and fragmentary in major respects, and is no doubt in some measure erroneous. Nevertheless, a clear and consistent picture of what orgone energy is and how it functions arises from Reich's work. The following ten properties of orgone energy were deduced by Reich. 1. _It is mass free_. Orgone energy itself has no inertia or weight; i. e., it is mass free. This is one of the reasons it is difficult to measure using conventional techniques. Mass is, however, intimately dependent on the characteristics of the mass-free orgone energy field with which all matter is surrounded. Measurements of weight or inertia reflect the characteristics of this field as well as of the object contained in it. 2. _It is present everywhere_. Orgone energy fills all space. It is present in differing degrees or concentrations (or " charges " ) but is nowhere absent. It is present in vacua, whether within the atmosphere or in outer space. It is in this respect like the ether of pre-20th century physics. 3. _It is the medium for electromagnetic and gravitational phenomena_. Again, like the ether., orgone energy is the substratum of the most fundamental natural phenomena. It is the medium in which light moves and electromagnetic and gravitational fields exert force. One of the major tasks of orgonomy is to integrate our knowledge of orgone energy with the facts about those phenomena known to orthodox physics. 4. _It is in constant motion_. The continual motion of orgone energy can be observed under appropriate conditions. There are at least two characteristic types of motion, a pulsation or alternating expansion and contraction, and a flow, normally along a curving path. 5. _It " contradicts " the law of entropy_. Orgone energy is attracted to concentrations of orgone energy. Unlike heat or electricity, which always show a direction from higher to lower potential, orgone energy flows from lower orgonotic potential to higher. In a thermal system in which outside energy is neither added nor subtracted, heat is lost by hot objects or materials and absorbed by cool until everything within the system is the same temperature. " Entropy increases " as the heat is distributed more and more uniformly. Heat, after all, leaves the sun and goes out into space; it does not collect from space and flow into the sun. In the same way, a heater radiates heat into the room; sam steffens wrote: > > No one knows why it is happening. Guest guest
Thanks I could not agree with you more. We have a farm where we raise animals and grow many plants I am learning more about bio-dynamics and as a student midwife I am seeing what you are saying every time I turn around. We live in the country and recently went to someones house who lived under a power line. We were there for only about a half hr. and on the way home my husband and I were both greatly disturbed from the humming invasive energy of the power line. So much so that we spent the rest of the afternoon feeling scattered and not really able to do much but try to digest the experience. I had asked the woman we were visiting about it later and she said that it was hard for her for the first month but she got used to it and now she hardly notices it. Guest guest
AFAIK they are not being kept away - they are lost. IE neural damage or at least neural malfunction. I favor damage as predators shun the product. No way would I eat it. I believe it is GMO pollen and we know they were warned before they did it as we have no experience with outcomes. Monsanto should be held accountable for crimes against nature and humanity. Electromagnetic radiation is handled about as carelessly as chemicals or genes. We have psychopathic personalities in charge and they by definition are psychologically deficient. They dont care. I am not convinced they can care. Kirk Gail Raby <graby wrote: Seems like their are two separate issues here.... Guest guest
It isnt worth the convenience. Your muscle testing was correct. If you need a mobile phone one installed in the car is the best compromise. Beyond that - is it worth it? I dont have a cell phone. I dont have a microwave oven either. Kirk Jane MacRoss <HIGHFIELD wrote: Funny you should say mobile phones could be made safer, Kirk - I currently have a patient who tells me his brain tumour (now excised - but regrew before the first surgery was healed) was due to over use of his mobile phone and he told his Drs and his surgeons this and all he got was raised eyebrows - he still uses one but says its a " special " type. Here in Vic Oz they had 10 people working in an office two floors down from a phone tower on the top of a city building all developed brain tumours - " fortunately " (amazingly) they were able to " prove " that there was no connection - there were more than 10 people working on that floor - an amazingly high number tho eh? I had a gold mesh device over the ear piece section of my own phone - allegedly to reduce the waves or whatever they have - muscle testing indicated it didn't make any difference ......... what do you recommend? Guest guest
There is no certifiable non GMO corn in the US. Once it is grown outdoors it is loosed and spreads. For such things to be approved - incompetence. The fact the parasites refuse the honey - that is not electromagnetic fields. Also the pollen may pass to cousins of corn or whatever has been midified. If I remember correectly there are grasses closely related to corn. Monsanto is a dealer of death. (And we dont know what the vector is. Could be a grass by now.)
