I would like to get some acupuncture needles, probably 0.18mm (or

smaller, just whatever is easier for the beginner) and somewhere

around an inch long (I think that's something like 25mm) with the

plastic aligment sheeths. It would also be nice if they were

individually packaged. I don't really know where to get them, or

what I am looking for other than that. I also saw bio hazard

containers that you can buy with prepaid postage, and when you fill

them up, you just mail them in and they dispose of it

(http://www.lhasaoms.com/bio_hazard_containers-24-page.html). I

don't know if these are a good idea, or would just be an unneeded

expense. It's probably not responsible, but the people I know with

diabetes just throw the needles in the garbage.

I'm not really sure what all of the needle types mean, or if they

are just different brand names, or different handles, or just what.

If someone could help me figure out what I need to get, and/or where

is a good place to get them, and what is the going rate, I would

sure appreciate it, thanks =)

Btw I am not just attempting to do this blindly, I am receiving

instruction from a liscenced pratitioner, but he would like me to

find a place to purchase my own needles. Thanks!

Depending on your location (Country, State, etc). The use of or even the

purchase of

Acupuncture needles may be illegal. For example in the US they are FDA class II

medical

devices permitted to licensed, registered or certified acupuncture

practitioners.

If you can legal purchase them, type in to google " acupuncture needle supplier "

and you will

find many available.

There are many places to purchase acupuncture needles but they will

not be able to sell to you unless you are a licensed practitioner.

Here is a list of some places that sell TCM supplies to licensed

practitioners.

Yes I do live in the US, so it looks like I wont be able to get

them.

Just as an after thought; How about students training for

acupuncture? Do they fall under a special catagory, because they

need needles to learn, but don't have a license?

Thanks for your help, and explaining how things work =)

I am no lawyer, but apparently there is no issue for those enrolled in an

accredited program

to purchase the supplies. At the same time, a student that performs acupuncture

on another

(and it seems in some cases even on themselves) with out the proper status from

their state

government outside of the supervised class room is also breaking the law.
