Guest guest
Hello every one, My name is Sam I am a midwifery student and working to incorporate Chinese Medicine into my studies. I am having a difficult time finding midwives who use this Philosophy in their care and was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction of finding one. I am currently studying under a great midwife of 25 years but she is not as familiar with Chinese medicine so she is learning about it with me. I do have the ability to study some with a Chinese Physician in a clinic. However They do not work with Women during pregnancy and So I am trying to fill a gap of joining the two. I am also looking for more literature on the subject of pregnancy and the physiological changes it brings in eastern philosophy. I have some of what I think are the most relevant translated books but there are still so many holes with them that with out better guidance I am not sure if I will be able to piece it all together correctly. Any help would be appreciated. Many warm Blessings Sam Be a PS3 game guru. Get your game face on with the latest PS3 news and previews at Games. Guest guest
Hi, Sam: Welcome to the board, would you mind telling which books you have as a starting point, to see what else we might recommend? Guest guest
Zita West is her name and yes it is a good book. I have access to numerous books at the clinic non of which directly work with pregnancy or birth. As far as the books I have at home,I have Chinese Acupuncture and moxibustion that was chiefly edited by Chen Xinnong, Acupuncture in Pregnancy and Childbirth by Zita West, Chinese Medical Obstetrics by Bob Flaws, Healthy Pregnancy Healthy Birth with TCM by Honra Lee Wolfe, Acupuncture in Midwifery by Sharon Yelland and of Coarse Obstetrics & Gynecology in by Giovanni Maciocia which has by far been of the greatest use. But none of them focus on the normal and listening to the body's energy during pregnancy. There are so many holes it is difficult to put it all together beyond the basics. I am not drawn to acupuncture and feel that there are some really great practitioners around who are. I also think it is out of the scope of practice I think I will want for the care I will be providing. I am especially looking for more information on listening to the body's energy during pregnancy when two are involved vs. one. Thanks for the help many warm blessings Sam christine_wnm <christine_wnm wrote: A very good book exists on Acupuncture in Pregnancy by Debra Betts - Also another by (forgotten her first name), surname West.
