Guest guest
I've been a member here for a while, but haven't posted in a good year. Sorry.... I'm trying to get rid of dampness/phlegm, due to a chi deficiency in my spleen. The worst part of all of this is that I feel quite lazy ( " heavy " ) and find it difficult remembering things. This is the worst part of it. I've tried acupuncture and herbs (expensive and long term, not covered by insurance), and am now doing qigong/chi kung to improve my organs so they can expell the dampness. This is quite difficult. I'm doing the " 8 pieces of brocade for health, " if anyone has any experience with this. I tried finding the version for healing, but have been unsuccessful. I'm eating all my vegetables and am eliminating sweets and coffee. Any suggestions as to what to do would be great as far as improving my organs so they become more self-sufficient. I've had this condition for a while and am tired of it. Nothing I have done for any length of time has really helped, and I'm discouraged. Thanks./glenn
Guest guest
Hi, Glenn: Do you know the names of the herbs that you have taken, or the name of the formula? I've had similar problems but found that having the correct herbs is key to reducing or eliminating damp. Kind regards, Jack --- apchat2000 <lionhearted38 wrote: > I've been a member here for a while, but haven't > posted in a good year. > Sorry.... > > I'm trying to get rid of dampness/phlegm, due to a > chi deficiency in my > spleen. Guest guest
Hi Glenn: Eliminate dampness! 1. Don't think too much. Quiet that darn mind. Don't research, don't investigate, don't tire yourself out trying to learn. The brain and the eyes are the two most expensive organs to run. You have dampness because you are tured (= sp qi deficiency) 2. The bulk of your food should be cooked, baked, grilled etc. 3. Eliminate all refined sugars and artificial sweeteners AND anything that has a very sweet TASTE (irrespective of whether it has a " high " sugar content or not), such as oranges or stevia. You can make do with mild sweetness only in your life. You'll feel better. 4. Go to sleep early (about 9 or 10), and FORCE yourself to wake up early (7 am). 5. Ejaculate as little as possible. 6. Eliminate dairy and breads. 7. PER-SIST Those are some main points that hold true for the vast majority of westerners with dampness issues. Guest guest
Hi Jack, I too have some of these problems but I am much better now. What herbs did you take? Guest guest
Hi, Tulu: Hugo made some good suggestions, most of which I acted on years ago. Even so, I found that adopting those practices didn't solve the problems, they just kept them from worsening. I still needed to solve the problem. As I live in China, it wasn't that difficult or expensive to try different formulas, so I tried these: Two Matured Ingredients Decoction (er chen tang) combined with Stomach Calming Powder (ping wei san) and Three Seed Filial Devotion Decoction (san zi yang qin tang). These worked well, but recently my massage therapist has found a deeply sore spot on my upper thigh, so I've been taking a formula to address Liver - Kidney Yin vacuity, and that has been working well. It's important to know what type of damp - phlegm issues you have in terms of whether damp phlegm more directly affects the Spleen or Lung. Where is the spot located? I have one on the upper thigh, partly on the inside (medial) thigh and parrtly on the front, about 3 inches down from where the leg joins the trunk of the body. I don't have to massage it to tell it's sore. Sometimes when I'm tired it hurts to cross my legs.
Guest guest
Victoria: On the hip / upper buttock area. The therapist has been working with that area for two months, and each week the area feels slightly less sore. My therapist will be taking a long break for Chinese New Year, so I wanted to find an herbal means of dealing with the problem in her absence. There seems to be much improvement.
