I don't know how this relates to chinese medicine, but teatree oil is supposed to have antibiotic qualities when applied externally, and if I remember right, I think garlic also has antibiotic properties when taken internally or applied externally. I have heard that a clove of garlic equals an adult dose of penicillin, but I don't know if that is true or not. Mostly the medical community treats Lyme with antibiotics, so that would be your best bet. I have also heard that colloidal silver also has antibiotic properties. What this is is very small (microscopic) bits of silver are suspended perminantly in water, and what it supposedly does is surround the microbe and suffocate/starve it to death. I would wonder about it taken internally because just like any other broad spectrum antibiotic, it kills any microbe, including the good ones. It would probably be better used topically, but I don't know how well it works. Sometimes though when it really comes down to it, it's good to use modern medicine for certain cases of diseases, especially if the disease fits well into germ theory, because they know exactly what the germ is and how to kill it. That is of course unless you have some sensitivity to antibiotics. Then you might want to look for an alternative. Some good examples where you might want to use modern medicine over TCM could be brochitis, pneumonia, or strep throat. In these cases without antibiotic treatment, mortality rate is about 1 in 2 to 1 in 3, which is very significant. Where chinese medicine fits better with these illnesses is in prevention, in keeping your bdy strong enough so you don't get them, but once you do get them antibiotics become more plausible. here is a list of some of the potential side effects if lyme disease goes to far or is not treated properly: If Lyme disease isn't treated, it can spread to other parts of the body. The symptoms of late Lyme disease include arthritis (painful, swollen joints) and nervous system problems. Lyme arthritis often affects only one of the large joints, such as the knee. Sometimes it may affect more than one joint. The symptoms of the nervous system disorder caused by late Lyme disease may include trouble concentrating, loss of memory, muscle weakness, and tingling and numbness in the arms and legs. However, Lyme disease rarely causes such nervous system problems. If you understand these risks, and want to try something more natural in the mean time, I would say go for it. Just if the disease does not respond very well, it might be good to get modern medical attention. It also might be good to try these things in addition to say a typical 10 to 30 day antibiotic treatment. That's probably what I would suggest. I hope it helps you out, and good luck with your husband getting better.

Guest guest
Hi. I've got a patient suffering from Lyme but he prefered to perform an usual treatment not TCM. Here u got some links and a copy from a msg written by Bob Linde about it. Best, Roberta http://www.canlyme.com/ www.dr-zhang.com www.acuherbals.com " Hi Roberta, This is one of the harder problems to treat from both a medical and a herbal approach. The trick is to kill the parasite and also to protect the qi. This is a case where a healing crisis will most certainly occur as the systemic parasite dies....similar to Candida. There are many ways that Lymes can manifest but usually with a rash, pain and fatigue...dampness is often present. I am a big fan of treating what you see. There are a number of choices for killing the parasite if this is not being done with drugs, Qing hao, Huang Lian, huang bai, huang qin, bie xie are good ones to look at but all can damage the spleen qi, Also as parasite- healing crisis begins to happen look to blood movers to flush out the toxic reaction something in the ...zhu yu tong family. To support the qi I like Bu zhong yi qi wan, but it sounds like there may be some cold or def yang present so think about you qui wan or golden book tea. From western herbal approach think about black walnut, Pau d arco, calumus root, yellow dock, sage, rosemary and thyme.... This is a tough one to treat, often times the parasite weakens the immune system so that other diseases of opportunity invade making it more complex. It is also a long term treatment form 6 months to 1-2 years for success. Of course protecting the spleen qi with diet goes along way as well. Good luck...let me know what you use and your success, Bob " - teri Chinese Traditional Medicine Thursday, November 09, 2006 1:05 AM [Chinese Traditional Medicine] Any chinese herbs for Lyme disease? Guest guest
wow, don't know when I wrote that but still sounds right....I also know that David Winston of Alchemists Herbalists has done some extensive research in this area (he is in NJ). He recommends the antibiotic treatments in conjunction with western/chinese herbal combo that he has formulated over time. I don't remember his website but google him and he will come up. He is tops in the herbal field in my mind. Bob www.acuherbals.com Roberta Blanco <robertablanco wrote: Hi.
