Guest guest
What would ya'll suggest to a student who is studying and trying to memorize the different points, a small stand up model or a large wall chart? Also the books and different papers I have with the spelling of the point do not include the tones, what study material could I get that would have the different words with the correct tone marks and where would be the best place to order from? Thank You, TaMara

I believe Blue Poppy offers a tape of how to pronounce the names of the acupuncture points. You can Google for bluepoppy.com or Bob Flaws, and get to the website. I have their tape that gives the correct pronounciation of both the Chinese names of herbs and the pharmaceutical names. It's been very helpful. They also have a book on learning medical Chinese for readers who want to go that far. For readers who really want to get into the language, you'll also need a pinyin Chinese-English dictionary. The Flaws book will teach the reader how to use the radical index as well as the pinyin index in the dictionary. Since the words in pinyin Chinese - English dictionaries are alphabetized by the pinyin names (oomplete with tonal marks) readers usually don't need the pinyin index unless it's to cut the search time. However knowing how to use a radical index allows a reader to go from the Chinese character to the pinyin and then the English. The pinyin index allows the reader to go from the pinyin to the Chinese character to the English. The way the radical index works is that one learns to count brush strokes in the character.
