Pain in Shoulders & Knuckles

I'm currently unable to see my TCM doctor as she's at the end of her pregnancy

with twins. She'll be back in a fairly short while after their birth since

her mother lives nearby & will be helping her look after them. So I'll be

without care for about 1 1/2 months. Already been 3 weeks.

I've very old injuries in my shoulders & one wrist (shoulders since I was a

child & wrist since I was 23) that have caused me pain & occasional numbness

& tingling for many years. After I started seeing a TCM doctor in the spring

for headaches/migraines, I found that the pain from my shoulders improved,

although never leaving completely. My wrist doesn't pain me but my fingers &

knuckles do - more so in the hand with the damaged wrist but both hands do

tend to trouble me.

Since I've not been able to see my TCM doctor, the pain has once again

increased, to the point where the tender spots ache constantly. Either using

or resting my arms & hands make no difference. It's not a matter of letting

it rest to ease the pain.

Two questions -

1. Is there a correlation between working on points & taking herbs for

migraine/headaches & for kidney yin deficiency - liver yang excess (from

liver yin being low - I'm not sure how to phrase this)? Does improving these

weak areas in my system help the pain I have in my upper body joints?

2. Is there anything I might do to alleviate the pain till I'm able to see her

again? (I do have another TCM doctor but the drive is about an hour away &

holding the steering wheel for that long is agonizing even after treatment.)

I'm already using heat & that eases the pain but it returns soon. I dance to

music I put on at home (loose relaxing dancing, not frantic, energetic) to

relax my muscles over all & to ease any tension as it works wonders for me. I

have a liniment called Zheng Gu Shui (contains Radix Notoginseng, rhizoma

curcumae, cinnamomum camphora, radix angelicae dahuricae, moghania

macrophylla, rhizoma polygoni cuspidati, mentholum, camphora) & wonder if

using that might help although its name is Bone Setting liniment. Any

opinions, please?

Thank you in advance for answering. At least my headaches have not returned.
