Guest guest
Hello and first thank you for letting me join your group. I have read many of your posts and I am hoping that someone out there might have an idea for my best friend. He has had terrible headaches for over 5 years on a daily basis. Sometimes they aren't really bad and sometimes we are in the emergency room for hours at a time. But they never go completely away. He also says he feels like acid or poison is draining out of his system. I don't know what that means and neither does anyone else I have spoken to including him. He has stinging sensations in his whole body and cramps in his neck so bad that they had to change needle sizes to give him a shot. We have been to every specialist and alternative person I can think of and no one has any ideas except to use terrible drugs to medicate him. I could tell you much more but don't want to use too much bandwith. If anyone has any ideas I would be glad to research anything. Thank you for your time. Please elaborate, and don't worry about the bandwidth. TCM looks at the total clinical picture, and when possible treats all imbalances at the same time. Is there any weather sensitivity? Foods that aggravate it? Constipation/ colonic inertia or mushy stools? Please describe the location of the headache - back of head and neck, sides, front, top, all over? Does the pain move around. Worse in daytime or at night? Any feelings that the head is going to cave in or explode? Any hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)? Any low or high blood pressure? As good as you can, please desribe his facial complexion and the color of his tongue. Does anything cause the headaches to become worse? Are these migraines or cluster headaches or regular headaches? What is the quality and length of his sleep like? What is his urination like? Any edema? Please describe any other health problems he's having. I take it something like a tumor or epilepsy has been ruled out. My personal opinion is that when chronic headaches aren't due to a tumor or epilepsy, TCM is far superior to allopathic medicine in treating other types of headaches. It can be tempting to keep reaching for a bottle of aspirin - it's quick and easy - but in time this can trigger other problems. TCM not only can clear up many types of headaches but it also can reduce the tendency to having them. Also, in the process of treating the underlying imbalances that are manifesting as headaches, other manifestations of those imbalances (Roots) also clear up. Guest guest
A very important question: What is his diet and dining patterns like? A lot of sweets and meats? Vegetables? Eating at regular times? Eating when upset? Eating on the run? Etc.
Guest guest
I want to back up what Victoria said about " TCM is far superior to allopathic medicine in treating other types of headaches. " other than epilepsy or tumours (which I have no idea what TCM can do for them). My knowledge of TCM is very limited but I can speak from experience that TCM can greatly help a person suffering from headaches. When I was young, I never had a headache ever. But at 20, I got my first 'aura', although no pain with it. I had no idea at the time what it was. But after that, migraines & headaches became a part of my life. As I grew older, the extreme severity & vomiting abated somewhat but the frequency increased. Nothing ever tried in 36 years stopped them, only eased them temporarily. Headaches were from 2-3 times per week & some lasting 3-4 days. Since I started TCM in the late spring, I can count the number of headaches I've had & most were due to things becoming unbalanced. TCM not only stopped my headaches but brought a inner peace to how I felt. Not that I was in turmoil or troubled but I've been diagnosed with ADD & have always felt 'antsy' or jumpy-hyper inside. Hard for me to focus on one thing for long & hard for me to relax. Treatment for my headaches improved my inner (or mental/emotional) feelings as a 'side effect'. Wow. When does traditional western medicine ever do something like this? While many headaches may seem similar or identical to western medicine, the causes of headaches according to TCM may vary & each person's treatment depends on certain symptoms they have, as you've probably guessed from reading Victoria's reply & her list of questions. I urge you to convince your friend to seek out a qualified TCM practitioner to be accessed. I was very skeptical at first so I know this hasn't been placebo effect. I didn't expect anything different from any other treatments or medications I've had. I can't speak highly enough now about TCM.
