Nothing is more helful to lose weight than eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and cutting way back on high glycemic foods. Two good diets for losing weight for meat eaters is The South Beach Diet and Dr. Mercola's no grain diet - it is not really necesary to buy the books - The South Beach Diet is a diet to break Insulin Resistance and it's concept is simple eat NO! high glycemic foods - the Mercola diet is also simple in it's basic concept - NO Grains - protein foods (meat, eggs, fish) and plenty of fruits and vegetables. If you want to follow a diet based on TCM concepts (which is more scientific)then read Bob Flaws' 'The Tao of Healthy Eating'- this book shows how to eat according to organ imbalance - much more precise and individualized. >You can find glycemic index charts in the Internet - eat only foods of a glycemic rating below 50 - try to avoid eating too many higher glycemic foods at the same meal. Vegetarians should follow similar guidelines - make sure to eat adequate protein. I posted here one time about eating 'cooked' salads - this is a fad with the 'rich and famous' - many gourmet restuarants serve beautifuly composed warm salads - in Japan I have eaten such foods at well known Keiseki style restuarants - delecious - my wife has become quite adept at cooking beautifully prepared fruit and vegetable dishes that are lightly cooked - we are both over 65 and all aging people should avoid cold foods. The Chinese concept of stir frying is based on the concept of rapidly cooking foods at high temps - this seals the juices preserving nutrients without 'over' cooking - in stir frying the food should keep it's fresh quality. Low glycemic diet that avoids sweets and bakery items and white processed grains - combined with low fat, low salt, with plenty of fruits and vegetables - will rapidly cause weight loss.
