If they have a pro-estrogenic effect, your condition will either worsen or at best not improve.
Guest guest
Honestly I think this is a difference between western medicine and Chinese medicine. Generally speaking with female type problems, western medicine regulates. The view Chinese medicine takes, is heal the problem and balance the energies, and then the body will regulate itself, and the problem will be fixed. Basically you can view the body 2 ways. One is that it needs help figuring out what to do, because what it is doing is not correct, and therefore needs to be regulated (western medicine), or the other case is that your body is trying to tell you the best way it knows how that something is wrong, and there is a problem that needs to be fixed, and once you can learn the way the body talks, and repair this damage, then the body will gladly function properly. Take two examples. If a country is in war and the draft comes up, there is no time to sissy around and try to teach people how to fight in the military on their own time. There is instead an intense regulation and demand of drill sergeants ect. This is this way because of crisis, a live or die situation, so there is no time to sit around and debate what is going to happen, and sit around convincing people that they need to train to fight. It just needs to happen. On the other hand if you took every day life and regulated it to that degree the public would become very dissatisfied and loose moral, and become very unhappy, some might even rise to rebellion. They would start to just trudge through there job, avoiding getting in trouble, but not doing anything extra. Creativity would no longer flow, happiness would no longer flow, and the overall existence would look pretty bleak. If you are in a live or die survival situation, I would probably use western medicine because that is how they have developed their medicine. If you are wanting a better quality of life I would stick with the Chinese medicine, or sometimes you can find a balance between the two. Each medicine has their own place and their own benefit, so it is just up to you what you want to do. One good suggestion might be if you got on birth control to regulate your cycle, and then with the Chinese medicine you repair the damage, then you have your fix in the mean time (BC pills), and also your long term fix (acupuncture or herbal Chinese medicine). The only downside to this is that you couldn't bear a child in the mean time. Overall I personally do not find it all too concerning that your cycle has gotten worse, especially where she is more treating your over-active immune system primarily. I do think you have a good concern, and a good question. Ultimately it is up to you to decide. If you trust her and you think that she is doing good for you I would stick with it. If you trust her and your body is telling you that what she is doing is not quite good enough, then I would express my concern to her (ie that you would like your cycle treated more primarily if indeed that is what you want). If you don't really trust her, then I would probably look for a different Dr. If you like the way Chinese medicine works, I would look for a TCM Dr, and if you feel more comfortable with western medicine, then look for an OBGYN, just whatever you feel is right. Overall though with the way TCM works, it is not necessarily of too much concern that your cycle has gotten worse. Actually depending on the specific circumstances, it could actually be expected and desired as it could signify that something was being done. Let me elaborate. Imagine your body as a filing cabinet. Imagine that you file every piece of paper that comes into your hands into this filing cabinet, and maybe you do it hastily or otherwise without organization. It would be very difficult to find much of anything in there, because you have more papers filed than what you need, and they also don't really have much order to them. Now imagine that you wanted to make it so the filing cabinet worked, and that you could easily find something in this filing cabinet. You would have to decide what is important and worth keeping, and then get rid of the rest. Your trash can next to the filing cabinet would get very full; you might even have to get another garbage can in the mean time to get rid of all the extra. Now, let's relate this to the body. As I mentioned in my other post, if you have PCOS you most likely have blood stagnation/coagulation in your uterus. This means you have a large overabundance of energy that is slowing the energy down, and at the same time gathering more energy. This is a vicious downward cycle that perpetuates upon itself. Now if you have this big energy stagnation in your uterus it needs to be drained somehow. Now I suppose that your body could eliminate the energy stagnation through some other channel, but where it can drain right out of the channel it is in, that would make the most sense. Just like if you were clearing the clutter out of the filing cabinet, you would not determine that it is junk, then go through the effort of filing it to put it in another filing cabinet to load it into your truck to take it to the dump only to empty out the filing cabinet drawer by drawer so you could keep the filing cabinet. Instead you would just put it in your garbage can and wheel it out to the curb for garbage pickup. So with that being said your cycles being irregular could just mean that your body is doing a very good thing for itself in clearing out the energy stagnation. I hope all of that made sense, if not just ask. Also this is just one possibility, it's not necessarily the way it is, but it's got a pretty good chance. I hope this helps, and is more or less what you were looking for when you asked. Good luck with your journey!
