Guest guest
It sounds like you are in good hands, and hopefully she will be able to do some good for you that you can feel. Do you by chance know what kinds of things your TCM Doc has diagnosed you with? I think that would be very helpful for everyone on the board if you wanted to learn more about your condition, and what types of things you can expect (such as symptoms or limitations among other things), and what types of things will help or hinder your treatment. From what I gather (and correct me if I am wrong) there seems to be some sort of communication barrier between you and your TCM Doc (such as language, or culture, or something like that), so it might be good for you to get her diagnosis somehow (have her write it down if needs be), and then ask questions on here, and maybe that would help you get more familiar with your condition and what you can do about it. It's all up to you on what you want to do, but I always think it is good for people to learn what is going on with them, if nothing more than to be familiar with what the Dr is doing, and what they can do to help. I don't know what other's experiences are, but with my experience (which isn't a whole lot, so I might be misinformed, who knows), most herbs cannot (or at least shouldn't) be used while pregnant (and probably while trying to conceive). The TCM Dr that I go to only has 1 formula that he will use in these cases because of the risk. I do not know about the acupuncture, but I do know that I have seen several pregnant women with needles in them at the TCM clinic I go to, so that is promising, but then again if your Dr does not feel comfortable with acupuncture during pregnancy, you may have to go without it, or find a different Dr that you trust. We'll wait to see what everyone else says. One other thing that might be of interest to you, and I don't mean to sound preachy, or sound like I am telling you what to do. I'm just expressing some things I have heard that may be of interest to you. Where you have described some pretty serious health concerns, most Chinese doctors, and even many western doctors, will say that it will be much better off for both you and the baby if you can get these health concerns under good management, because the last thing you want is a miscarriage or an unhealthy baby. Then again you might already know all of this, and if you do then great =). If you can correct all the imbalances you can before you have a baby, then of course your baby will be all the more healthy. There is a balance with that, and what is practical, however. It is not practical for most people to be 100% in balance before they have kids, because for some people if they did this, they would be 50 years old and physically unable to have children. So finding the balance is of course up to you, after your body gets to the point where it is capable to do so (ie you can't have a baby if your body's immune system is overactive). I think it is great that you are working on figuring these things out, and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. I'll be waiting for more info to see if I can fill you in a bit with what I know, and I am sure everyone else will give their input as well, if you choose of course. Good luck! There are certain points that shouldn't be used during acupuncture and perhaps these are the main ones she's using. They're chiefly on the feet, ankles, hands and wrists. sue
