Guest guest
Hello everyone, Just a quick question.... Would overexposure to the sun weaken the protective qi? Is the sun considered a pernicious evil? Thanks in advance. Amy
Guest guest
Hi, Amy: In very simple terms, too much exposure to the sun would create imbalance between Yin and Yang. In China, people are quite sensitive to the sun, avoiding sunlight whenever possible, even on cold winter days. On a bus in summer, people will get out of their seats and switch to a seat on the other side of the bus if the sun shines through the window. Might this mean that there is something " wrong " with a person who isn't bothered by lots of sunlight? That would be me. I don't burn, even if it is the middle of the day in June/July and it is 92 degrees F. and I'm working outside for hours. I am Caucasian, light brown hair, etc. etc. Would the fact that I come from generations of outdoor-working peasants explain this? Would appreciate an opinion: everyone I know of fair appearance burns quickly.
Guest guest
All is relative, some people get cold on a breeze, others wouldn't mind to bathe in a freezing lake. Some would get hot on a little sunlight on a cold day, others don't mind lying on the beach for hours under the summer sun. Of ccourse, one adapts, the body must have the capacity to react, to keep the balance, the measure is this ability of the body to maintain the yin-yang balance, if you can handle a lot of exterior heat without problens, that's fine. There are hereditary and personal(life) issues here.
