The recent thread on reactivity disease is closely related to the

issue of adrenal fatigue. I have writen here extensivwely on this

issue - a very commonly occuring issue. Since so many people suffer

from SNS imbalances it is important to understand this syndrome - so

many cases appearing in a health care providers office have this as

a primary and or complicating issue.

Studies show that a large percentage of people are born with greater

or lesser degrees of stress disorder (they inherited it from their

mothers- this is not necessarily a genetic disease)- this combined

with the extreme stress that many suffer in the modern society -

creates a great potential for stress disorder in modern people - it

is not surprising that so many millions of people are having

difficulty keeping up.

People born with stress disorder do not deal well with new stressors

and they are made more exhausted. Even those with normal

responsiveness when confronting a severe stress state or a series of

less severe stressors can be overwhelmed and will be left exhausted

and unable to recover their stability - the adrenal glands have been

exhausted and recovery from this will be slow and difficult - many

never recover from this disorder not because this disease is not

cureable - it is - even in very advanced cases - but many either are

not aware of the nature of their disease and never get proper

medical help or they are unable to do the things necessary to remove

the stressors.

In my experience the most severe forms of adrenal exhaustion occur

most often in those who are born with defeciency conditions and who

later in life experience trauma from powerful stress - short term

trauma or long term unrelenting stress overwhelms those who are

already deffecient. This is not a mysterious condition it is clear

cut and easy to understand. The development of these exhaustive

states can only be releaved by removing the stressors and fully

supporting the Yin and Yang defeciencies which have developed.

The major exogenous stressor that later becomes an endogenous

stressor is what we take into our bodies - food, drink, and infinite

chemical substances from medicines, toxins in food and the

environment, recreational chemicals, etc. etc. The most useful thing

we can do when under stress is to stop taking all of the substances

which are contributing to endogenous stress. My father always tells

people who ask his advise to only eat kicheree (rice and mung) for

two weeks and this will releave large percentage of acute symptoms -

these acute symptoms are symbolic of the on going stress - stopping

these symptoms will be much appreciated by the body and will releave

many levels of stress. My father always adds the further advise -

stop taking food and other substances which are causing these

pathologies in the first place - give yourslf a break from constant

self caused assault - live naturally and healthily.

Even animals stop eating or drastically reduce the quantity of food

they eat when they are ill - we have lost this instinct and find

ourselves often following habits which we know are harmful - almost

every person suffering compulsions I have ever met knows that they

are under some sort of compulsion which they feel they can not

control - many people who can not stop certain habits end up trying

to justify these compulsions - I have heard people trying to justify

their addictions to alcohol, cigarettes, sugar, salt, fried food,

etc. etc. On this list some time back someone said she did not want

to live without her addictions because this was the little she had

left to enjoy in life - she would rather die of disease than give up

her addictions - such a person is lost and may never find her way.

We simply can not escape the laws of nature no matter how

inconvenient they may seem - I have seen with my own eyes that once

stressful behavior patterns are overcome the freedom and increased

energy that one experiences will make the endless struggle with

harmful habits seem like madness.

In western science the master of the stress response was Hans Selye

he was the first to describe the stress response in western

scientific terms.
