Yes for the helpfulness. Not only acupuncture but acupressure and massage can work wonders for anxiety. You can learn to do acupressure on yourself. The chiropractor I'm currently seeing often includes some acupuncture to mellow me out. It definitely works. In the past I had a very graphic demonstration of just how well acupressure could work. A good healer will zero in on exactly what is causing the anxiety. In TCM anxiety often is associated with Yin Deficiency. There is not enough Yin to properly calm (and cool and moisten) the body. Or there may be Blood Deficiency (not necessarily the same thing as anemia) or some other imbalances. Sometimes the way a person breathes can trigger anxiety and panic attacks. Breathing is swallow and done with the muscles of the chest instead of deep and done with the muscles of the abdomen. A condition called respiratory alkalosis develops as a result. The person feels like s/he's not getting enough oxygen, but the reality is that the oxygen level in the blood is too high and the carbon dioxide level is too low. The treatment for this is to breathe into and from a paper bag or hold one's breath so the CO2 level will rise. Some foods can aggravate this condition. If Qi Stagnation is a factor in the anxiety, Qi Gong exercises are particularly good for getting Qi (and Blood) moving properly. Magnesium deficiency also can manifest as anxiety and panic. A TCM healer is going to want to know every single problem you have. For example, if your bowel movements are regular, if there's any trouble sleeping, if you're bothered by heat or cold, what your appetite is like, your thirst, etc. In addition the TCM healer is going to be observing things like any unusual skin tones, how forceful you walk or talk, etc.
Guest guest
Hi Joelle: i had suffered with panic attacks for over 10 years, and had not taken drugs for similar reasons- wanted to handle naturally, and tried all sorts of methods until about two years ago, found a Chinese acupuncturist in the area and it was quite successful, even amazing considering i was feeling pretty desperate. I would definitely consider going for awhile, but also consider your diet and what other things you can do to improve quality of life. I did not take herbs either for this. all the best Dianne Chinese Traditional Medicine , " Joelle " <italiancanolis wrote: > > Hi i read past posts about anxiety but still am questioning it.
