[benjamin Hawes] Yep, I treat the root. But this is not about this particular patient; he just served as an example. In his case, we worked on the excess (damp heat in the middle and lower warmers, Wind-Cold invasion), as well as deficiency (SP Qi and Wei Qi deficiency) with herbs & AP, but his allergies were so specific - the mold - that he would still flare up badly if it rained (rain is rare here in the Southwest, so easy to make a correlation). He is currently tearing the moldy boards out of his walls and using a HEPA filter, etc. Anyway, my question was more general - has anyone been able to CURE someone of a specific allergy (cats, mold, ragweed) so that they are asymptomatic even in the presence of the irritant? I'm not talking sinus pressure here, but rhinorrhea / allergic rhinitis. Sinus pressure responds rather easily to AP, I've found, but in my personal experience (with cats) and in the patients I've treated for hayfever, the results, if any, are mild and of short duration. I have used standard TCM point selection based on standard TCM diagnosis (Wind-Cold on top of X, Y or Z pattern), trying to tonify between attacks. But another problem is that folks don't tend to come in if they have no symptoms... > Message: 2 > Tue, 5 Oct 2004 17:13:58 -0700 (PDT) > John Garbarini <johnlg_2000 > Re: allergies: does TCM really work? > > > Try Kiiko's protocol for Aller. [Jason] Sure, but I think you may need herbs. -Jason
