I have a puzzling dilemma, how is it that someone can become " immune " to herbs

???? Where does this come from???

My husband has been taking herbs for impotence, which he was left with from a

virus he had 25 years ago. Back when viagra first came out, his doc prescribed

it for him.......it worked for him the first time he took it.......worked great!

Then never worked the same again. Shortly afterwards we began trying

herbs...........Goat weed we tryed next with the same results, worked great at

first then didn't work. Since then we have tryed Muia Puama, Tongkat

Ali,Cistanche deserticola, panax ginseng to name a few, all with the same

results......worked great at first then nothing.

My question is, Why does this pattern keep happening ? What am I missing?

Any help would be appreciated.........

blessings, Marlene

Impotency in situations like the one mentioned that come on after

viral infections are more complicated than simply giving stimulants

that increase circultion to the local area and or build the Yang.

Stimulants that work in the short term but stop after sometime are

probably causing stresses of their own and should not be continued.

Sounds like Yin defeciency to me. Perhaps the body can accept small

amounts of stimulation but if this is continued they become

stressful. It is not that we develop immunity to the herbs the

problem is that the drugs are too strong and can not be continued

without stress.

This is clearly a case that needs further more sophisticated

evaluation. I meet many men who take sexual stimulants - i always

remind them that these substances are not a cure for impotency plus

many of them are very heating and one should be careful in their use

because in many cases they make the problems worse in the long run.

We have to remember that erections are very complicated

physiological events and simple answers rarely work.

Erections are both physiological and psychological functions of

the 'Kidneys'- any of the many functions of the Jing (Yin and Yang)

when pathological can cause sexual malfunctions - physiological and

psychological. Simple stimulation and improvement of circulation

(this is what Viagra does)is too simple a concept for these basic

issues of general physiology. Sexual health is a result and symbol

of general health.

i think those medicine/herb is just temporary and not treat the root

problem or imbalance that's why the result doesnt last that long.

thank you so much Vinod for your info...........that really gave me another way

to look at it.........will have to do some more research!

Another question comes up, for some one like this where a virus has come into

the body ..............would I be safe to say that this " entity " as I view it

from my Shaman point of view, has anchored itself into the kidneys ??? Since

this virus happened about 25 years ago, is it possible that this virus/entity is

STILL anchored there after all those years??? I am asking in general here and

not for a diagnoses...........as it blows my mind as to how these are able to

invade the body and remain there ???

Or would I be looking at the DAMAGE done by the virus , when it

invaded...........interesting I find it all. :-)

many thanks,

Marlene

The second understanding is the most valid. Disease is held not just

as a localized pattern it is also held in the psyche - it becomes a

part of our personality structure. The virus - or whatever was the

original cause of the disease passes on - but the image of the

disease stays very much with us. It becomes a part of the pattern of

how we function - these are our reactive patterns -

the 'personality'. These are the patterns that must be cleared

before we are 'healed' from past disease patterns. We actually have

developed patterns which have become foundation patterns of how

we 'know' ourselves. Healing these patterns can become the most

difficult aspects of 'recovery'. This is because we have defined

ourselves from the perspective of our diseases and negating any part

of self even 'false'self is very difficult.

Many systems have been developed from these understandings -

Homeopathy attempts to break these old patterns by stimulating very

specific aspects of the 'immune system' - psychology attempts this -

many religious and spiritual systems try to 'clear' the past

patterns - meditation does this - accupuncture can do this. All

systems do this by trying to break the old patterns and establish

new patterns. This is based on the psychological concept

of 'deconditioning' or 'reconditioning - which refers not just to

psychological but also pysiological processes since soma and psyche

are not seperate. My father is a practioner of Yoga - his teacher

always called Yoga a path of purification - meaning Yoga breaks the

old 'samskaras' or old non functional patterns - in the old

terminology this was called 'repentance from past sins'. In Zen

Buddhism this is called 'returning to our original face'- who we are

without our disease patterns.

Many people have written on these concepts in two favorites

that go into depth on the development of somatic and psychic disease

patterns based on malfunctions of the Organs are - Leon Hammer and

Lonny Jarrett. The patterns are held at the local level and the

holistic level. Both must be healed at the same time.
