I'm not advocating muscle > relaxants. I understood your point - all - over Yin (pathological)conditions can cause 'loose' joints. This is the reason why many with generalized defeciency states often have various subluxation processes in the spine - the joints are always sliding out of position when stressed - and because of the dryness in the joints they get 'stuck' in the dislocated positions. Many such patients are often seeing Chiropractors and other body workers. Once the joints slide out of position the muscles tense in opposing patterns and hold the dislocation. Your comment about this being a Yang defeciency state is true in the sense that the supporting stuctures to the joints have insuffecient Qi to hold the joints in their proper positions. As I mentioned before I like Astragulus as a premier herb for supporting the upright Qi. Of course it is for these types of problems that Accupuncture was originaly developed - so naturally it will shine here. Blocked - stagnant - stuck - energy patterns must be opened - activated - cleared - before the local stresses can be resolved. Remember the original causative patterns of these conditions are the polluted blood - which is caused originally by poor digestion and the resulting ineffeciency of seperating the righteous Qi from the turbid (toxic). Blood fouled by toxins act as a stressor to the SNS - Kidney - Liver. I warned against the use of Relaxin just to advise caution in using hormones for unstudied uses. I see many people who have gotten into trouble using HRT in inappropriate ways. I have heard that many clinicians are using Relaxin for FM and other Sympathetic Nervous System disorders - this is not a correct understanding of Stasis disease syndromes that are overstimulating the SNS - these are toxic conditions that have been the local source of the tense muscles - alkalizing substances that will nutralize acids and other blood supporting substances go more directly to the localized issues than Relaxin. We must be careful not to use powerful palliative substances as they will always have side effects. Go directly to the core issues that are polluting the Blood - Stomach/Spleen - Liver - Kidneys - Spleen/Liver disharmony. When these issues are resolved the Endocrine and brain chemical issues will be automatically and naturally resolved - and the ANS will return to proper functioning on it's own. Remove the stressors (clean up the blood)and the muscles will relax.
