Guest guest
Vinod, Thank you very much for the explanation of my situation. My illnesses started at the age of 15, shortly after my sister was killed by a drunk driver. At the time, I did not know what was happening to me. I now understand that grief, sadness, etc., must be processed and that the Liver and Spleen have a lot to do with this. At 41 years of age, I have done my body and myself a disservice by taking so long to look for help and to be an advocate of my own health. I have forgiven myself for this and continue to grow from learning. In 2004, when I started to look at alternative medicine for treatment, I discovered acupuncture and TCM. Someone on this list suggested that, since I didn't have much money (being on disability) to find a TCM school where the cost is affordable and I can help the students learn a very " KNOTTY " condition. I went to the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine for part of the year. They only have the clinic open when school is in session, so appointments are not available year round. I did have a very good TCM practitioner for a while. She had me taking a raw herb formula that I would boil into a tea. When I first started taking the tea, it had 18 different herbs in it. Near the end, I think I was up to 25. My last practitioner, Warren Shier, had a very fine set of students practicing their acupuncture on me and making suggestions for my tea formula. I had to stop going in August 2005 because I had lost my job and was back on disability. I have recently been able to return to work after being off and on disability for the last three years. I am lucky to still be living with my parents, so it won't be so hard to get used to making half the salary that I used to make. Eight years ago, I tried to buy my own house, but the deal fell through. Now there is no way I could even afford to rent! My older brother lives here too and he and my parents are Type II diabetics. I've been using the information I acquire to try to help them, but they are not believers in alternative medicine. I can only do what I can, and for me that is to eat right, try to get some exercise everyday, and most important, try to get a good nights sleep. I was diagnosed with a sleep disorder in September 2005 and your description of the hypersensitivity of the CNS explanation fits me to a T. When my new insurance kicks in, I will have the chance to see a local doctor that bases her practice on eastern philosophies and treatments. Her practice includes acupuncture, massage and balance. She could not accept the last insurance plan I was on, so I am hoping she has an opening for me with this new plan. Thanks again.
