In short this refers to the pathological Yin. In Yin

constitututional types when the Yin and the Yang are defecient

(syndromes like CFS and other exhaustive states) - then the

Sympathetic nervous system (which is a major mode of functioning of

the yin types) becomes oversensitized by the circulating toxins and

excititory chemicals (like catecholomines - adrenal exhaustion is

often a factor here)- this is essentially caused in modern

terminology by exhaustion of the adrenal and brain chemistry -

defeccient Qi) - so in this pathological state the sympathetic

system becomes over reactive and reacts to everything until in

advanced cases we see such situations as 'universal reactors' - such

people must be very careful not to further stimulate themselves by

taking substances that have an excititory quality.

Animals have different levels of excititory chemicals in their

flesh - and reactive types should eat flesh that is white (less

purines) - and this will support the Yin with a minimum of

overstimulation- such as white fish and chicken breast. Highly

reactive individuals should avoid all stimulatory substances while

working to rebuild the Kidneys (Yin and Yang Jing). Full Yin support

with small amounts of Qi and Yang as acceptable by the indiividual.

Part of this issue is constitutional and part is pathology.
